LG 55LA8600 Review

Models in LG LA8600 series

Beautiful design ; Excellent color ; Exceptionally bright ; Intuitive and easy-to-use Magic remote ; Improved Smart TV interface

Obvious LED backlight hot spots ; Poor black levels ; Poor off-axis performance ; Pricey

With a gorgeous design, the industry’s most intuitive remote and an excellent Smart TV interface, LG’s LA8600 is bound to be a crowd favorite.

Despite its headline-grabbing push to be the first to ship 4K and now OLED TVs, LG isn't the first name most buyers of high-end TV seek. Its most expensive non-4K/OLED TV this year, the LA8600 series LED LCD, again struggles to make its case to those...

LG's LA8600 series exhibits accurate color and very good video processing; beautiful minimalist design with hairline bezel and distinctive stand; excellent Smart TV suite anchored by unique Motion Control remote; superior cable box control and TV...

Relatively expensive; lighter black levels; somewhat uneven screen uniformity; cable box control scheme still inadequate for heavy DVR users; no Amazon Instant Video app.

Although its lovely frame is packed with well-executed features, the flagship-priced LG LA8600 series LED LCD TV has the picture of a midrange model.

The LG LA8600 series of HDTVs offers beautiful aesthetics, sharp 2D and 3D imagery, and rich color reproduction at a premium price. You get lots of features with this series, some of which are of questionable value.

Great picture quality. Gorgeous bezel-free design. Feature-rich. Good 3D imagery

Pricey. Tricky remote. Motion and voice features are sketchy

Never let it be said that LG doesn't know how to make a fashion statement. Not only is their 55LA8600 LED backlit HDTV one of the sharpest-looking 55-inch LCD sets to grace the labs, it's a solid performer and loaded with features, although one or two...

Attractive design Generally good picture quality Decent 3D quality

Plastic stand Smart TV interface can be sluggish Voice and motion features hit and miss

LG 55LA8600 Review: Those Are Some Pricey Bells And Whistles

With increasingly stiff competition and the threat of 4K on the horizon, television manufacturers are throwing every idea and accessory into this year's flagship models. But do bells and whistles make a TV worth nearly three grand? In the case of LG's...

We have this set mounted on a cabinet (with future intent to mount on the wall), hooked to a 2012 Yamaha Aventage 720 receiver. Speakers are Polk Floor RTi-A5 and an older Csi A6 center channel with Polk powered sub. We are on Comcast Cable and...
