LG 55LA860W review

The 55LA860 is a very strong TV from LG, but it's lacking a smidgeon of finesse in the picture department to make it a really great one. It could also do with a few extra catch-up TV apps. Nevertheless, its pictures across both 2D and 3D are for the...

Warm cinematic colours ; Good passive 3D support ; Beefy audio quality ; Attractive smart TV system

Black levels could be deeper ; Some noise on HD pictures ; Voice search and motion gesture support isn't great ; Needs support for more catch-up TV services

On the whole, the LG 55LA860W is a very likable TV. Its design is very stylish, thanks to its supremely narrow bezel, it produces engaging 2D and 3D pictures with beautifully rich and natural colours and it has an attractive smart TV system.

LG 55LA860W

LG designs the best looking TV going, but what about its pictures?

Gorgeous looking TV ; Bright pictures look excellent ; Smart TV interface is excellent

Panel's native contrast performance is below par ; Local dimming system is a bit crude ; Doesn't justify its price

for all the details on that.

LG 55LA860W

Close but no cigar – the LG 55LA860W falls down too much in comparisons with class-leading sets, robbing it of the full five stars

Stunning design ; Intuitive user interface ; Well-handled motion ; Stable 3D ; Crisp outlines

Slightly soft skin tones ; Blacks lack detail ; Whites could be brighter
