LG 65EF9500 OLED TV review

Without a doubt, the LG EF9500 is the most spectacular TV we've ever tested.

I feel like a broken record when I say it, but it’s LG’s fault for continually improving its OLED televisions, series by series, so I must say it again: This is the finest TV LG has made to date, and I would argue, the finest TV you can buy right now.

LG 65EF9500

LG's EF9500 line of flat OLED HDTVs will give you some of the best 4K picture quality you can buy, at a still-very-high price.

Excellent picture quality. Impressively wide color range. Loaded with features.

Expensive. Only three HDMI ports.

Input Lag, Power, and Conclusions Input lag, the amount of time it takes for a display to update after receiving a signal, is less impressive. The 65EF9500 showed a relatively high 57.2-millisecond input lag. This is disappointing, but not surprising;...

LG 65EF9500

The longer version? Maybe you have the money and like curved TVs. Because, let's face it, flat vs. curved is more of an aesthetic decision than anything else. Fine, get the 65EG9600 curved TV. Maybe you want a 55-inch TV instead. I'm not rich, so I'd...

The LG EF9500 OLED TV's picture quality is better than that of any LCD or plasma TV we've seen, with perfect black levels and exceedingly bright whites. It's equally adept in bright and dark rooms; showed accurate color, excellent uniformity and solid...

The EF9500 is more expensive than pretty much any other TV of its size. Its light output, video processing and some aspects of screen uniformity aren't quite as impressive as some other TVs.

If you have the money and want 55-inch or 65-inch TV today, you should buy the LG EF9500.

LG 65EF9500 review

LG does away with OLED's controversial curve

Extraordinary contrast ; Gorgeous colours ; Sensational design ; webOS is brilliant

Shadowing down the sides ; Limited brightness ; Contrast can sometimes nosedive ; More expensive than LCD

Despite a couple of strange lighting flaws, there are times - lots of them, in fact - where the 65EF9500's pictures look pretty much perfect. The fact that all the 65EF9500's, in some cases unique, attractions are available here in a flat screen at a...

LG 65EF950V 4K OLED review: The best TV money can buy in 2015?

For many serious AV fans - the sort of people who still own or sigh wistfully over the loss of Pioneer or Panasonic plasma TVs - OLED technology has long looked like the answer to their post-plasma TV prayers. The LG 950V (or LG EF9500 as it's known in...

Pictures are dominated by incredible contrast and gorgeous 4K UHD clarity, webOS smart TV interface is a work of genius, the sensational thinness of the OLED screen never gets old, it’s great to finally get your hands on LG’s OLED tech in a flat screen...

Some strange dimming at the left and right edges of the screen, usually class-leading black levels can suddenly take a major hit when the screen is driven hard, certainly isn’t cheap by the standards of 65-inch UHD TVs generally (though for an OLED...

It's pretty much impossible given the current lack of more independently produced HDR content to know for sure how likely future commercial HDR content might be to expose the 65EF950V's brightness limitations. Which means that the only thing we can say...

LG 65EF950V review: proving you don't need the curve to be beautiful

AV fans rejoice: you can finally you can buy an OLED TV that's flat rather than curved.

Astonishing picture quality ; Glorious ; futuristic design ; Excellent webOS smart system

Slight gradation problems ; Dimming effect at edges

LG 65EF950V review

This stunning set teams 4K, OLED and HDR for televisual heaven

Immaculate, realistic picture ; Lights-off blacks ; As futureproofed as they come ; Slim, gorgeous design

SD channels look mediocre ; No ITV Player or All4

If 4K HDR OLEDs like this one are the future of TV, then it's a future we're excited to be living in

LG 65EF950V review

We've seen many excellent TVs recently, but this 4K OLED might just be the finest yet...

Superb contrast ; Punchy yet subtle colours ; Wonderfully crisp ; Classy design ; Good upscaler ; Exemplary viewing angles

No ITV Player or All4

LG’s (and the world’s) first flat 4K OLED TV is a resounding success in almost every way

LG 65EF950V

The 65EF950V is a big deal. As well as showing off LG's latest OLED technology, it's also the firm's first mainstream stab at using OLED in a flat rather than curved screen. This removes in an instant one of the biggest hurdles to OLED adoption for...

Extraordinary contrast and 4K detailing ; Many people will prefer its flat screen ; About as pretty as a TV can get

Dimming at the screen's edges ; Issues with sustaining light control at just above black ; Motion handling could be better
