LG 65UH8500

High dynamic range (HDR) video , whether from streaming sources like Netflix and Amazon, or 4K Blu-ray discs, is the best source you can watch at home today. LG deserves credit for being the first TV maker to support both types of HDR content, Dolby...

With support for both Dolby Vision and HDR10 formats, the UH8500 can access more high dynamic range content than other TVs. Color accuracy and bright-room performance are solid. The design is attractive, and the motion remote is one of the best available.

Similarly-priced TVs perform much better.

An attractive design and cutting-edge compatibility add the LG's UH8500's appeal on paper, but in person its image can't beat competitors.

LG 65UH8500

The LG UH8500 line of 4K televisions combine a gorgeous, HDR-capable picture with stylish design elements and an intuitive, feature-rich interface for a very compelling package.

Excellent color reproduction. Good contrast for an LCD. HDR support. WebOS 3.0 is feature-rich and easy to use.

Three HDMI ports. A bit light on apps and services.

LG's UH8500 line of Super UHD televisions isn't as technically impressive as the OLED65G6P, but it also isn't nearly as expensive. For LED-backlit LCDs, UH8500 televisions produce a good-looking picture with support for native HDR content, and while...

LG 65UH8500 LCD Ultra HDTV Review

LG's midpriced 65UH8500 delivers good image quality with a super-wide viewing window, and it's one of the few sets around that plays both predominant types of HDR content.

HDR10 plus Dolby Vision HDR; Great color; Wide viewing window

Middling black levels; Backlight artifacts

LG UH8500 4K Smart LED TV 2016 Review (55UH8500, 60UH8500, 65UH8500)

The UH8500 comes in three sizes (55", 60", 65") and produces mostly decent, vibrant, sharp images primarily due to LG's 4K “Quantum Display” technology and HDR specs. As it has an IPS panel the image quality doesn't deteriorate at wider viewing angles...

Much better than 2015 LG LCD TVs ; Very decent motion control ; WebOS 3.0 is excellent ; HDR-level wide color gamut ; Lovely, elegant design ; Good 3D functionality

Poor local dimming ; Poor contrast levels ; Black performance is a bit weak

The UH8500 is one of the best LG LCD 4K TVs we’ve reviewed to-date and it’s a definite improvement over the generally mediocre LCD 4K models from 2014 and 2015 that we’ve looked at. That said, while we recommend the UH8500 in general terms, there are...

LG UH8500 4K Smart LED TV Review (55UH8500, 60UH8500, 65UH8500)

The UH8500 comes in three sizes (55", 60", 65") and produces stunning, vibrant, smooth colours due primarily to LG's proprietary 4K “Quantum Display” technology giving the TV the ability to reproduce over a billion colours. The image quality is taken a...
