Having upgraded from a Westinghouse 32" LCD for my bedroom to the 42" LD450, I am very impressed by the picture quality and clarity of the LD450. Deep black levels, eye catching contrast. And while I wouldn't have upgraded had the HDMI on my Westinghouse mysteriously stopped working, I'd say the upgrade was well worth the money.
The only thing LG's set really falls flat on is connection options: One component, two HDMI, one composite/s-video, where the Westinghouse had two component and two composite inputs. I'm an "equipment junkie", and own around 10 different gaming consoles and a few other devices that hook into my TV; to hook them all up to the LG requires external switches. Additionally, if you want any external sound, you've only got two options: Optical digital audio or the headphone jack, the latter of which switches off the TV's speakers without giving you an option otherwise; there is no option for stereo output on this TV. So make sure your stereo equipment is up to par before investing.
Overall though, for general usage, the LD450 offers a solid picture, and at a reasonable price (I paid $649); for the average user, this set is sure to please.
Good resolution, Great picture, Attractive design, Bright image
