LG 32SL8000 LCD TV review

A media-savvy 32" LCD TV with few weaknesses

Gorgeous menus ; Easy calibration ; Simple to use ; Clean and smooth pictures from all sources

Slight lack of sharpness and contrast ; Some flicker on 100Hz

LG 32SL8000 television

Do TVs need Bluetooth? LG thinks so, and has packed its latest LCD TV with this aging wireless tech. Activate Bluetooth via the onscreen menus and it's then possible to pair the TV with either a set of wireless headphones, or a mobile phone. The latter...

USB plays DivX and DivX HD, cinematic Blu-ray pics, clean Freeview pics, Bluetooth

HD could be sharper, slight lack of contrast

If it lacks ultimate Full HD sharpness - and that's about all it does lack - there's nothing wrong with the 32SL8000's interpretation of Freeview, which is classy and clean. Sound quality is nothing to shout about, but the onboard underslung speakers...

LG 42SL8000 review

This HDTV is ultra thin, it's packed with features, and all in all it's really rather good

Attractive ; Slim design ; Excellent picture quality ; Good feature count ; Quite good value

Issues with 200Hz system ; Limited viewing angle ; Some artefacting

A good performer with an innovative design, but it's far too dear, given what's on offer for less

LG 42SL8000 review

The LG 42SL8000 delivers punchy, high-contrast images from all sources

Colourful, high-contrast images ; good spec for the money ; good-looking and nicely finished ; great menus

Never entirely comfortable with motion ; images could conceivably be more detailed ; thinks it’s frameless

The unpredictability of past LG TV ranges has been replaced by products either ‘very good’ or ‘extremely good’ – this is one of the former

LG SL8000 (SL80)

LG has launched a new line with the SL ranges. The SL8000 (SL80 in USA) is one the SL models and the smaller brother to SL9000 that we will review in a few days as well. SL8000 has a new Borderless design, a 200 Hz system and was awarded an EISA Award...

Picture quality; Very fast response time due to scanning backlights; Price; Refreshing design; Functionality and USB port

Requires some calibration; Black levels; No DLNA

LG SL8000 (SL80 in USA) is a beautiful TV and the new design direction that LG has taken with the Borderless design is interesting. I didn’t agree at all with the EISA committee when they awarded Philips 9704H the best LCD-TV out there but I must say...

LG 42SL8000 1920x1080p LCD HDTV

Here comes LG with a slimmed down 42" LCD display: the LG 42SL8000. This is a Full HD 1920x1080p LCD display, the standout feature of which is arguably its thin, sleek design. This is one display I briefly glimpsed at the IFA Show earlier this month,...

Calibrated Greyscale is of Reference quality, with no unwanted colour impurities in the image, Calibrated Colour is absolutely excellent, SD video processing is great, Excellent design, Works brilliantly as a large computer monitor or for gaming,...

Black level is slightly lacking, leaving dark scenes looking grey in dark environments, Limited viewing angle causes picture to appear greyish from the sides, On-board Digital TV tuner video has slightly processed appearance
