THE Tyagi 2298 does not produce a brilliant picture but it will do an acceptable job for most viewers.
Bright screen, in-built DVD player, 1680x1050 screen
16:10 ratio means black bars when watching TV or DVDs, low contrast, no 100Hz mode
As a simple, functional television that's not the main screen in the house, the Tyagi 2298 is an acceptable choice. It does not have the pedigree of more expensive small screens like Sony's KDL20S4000 panel, but it packs in plenty of functionality at ...

THE Sony KDL-46XBR45 boasts a fantastic feature set and is one of the best LCD TV's out there if you can afford it.
Great contrast and black levels, LED back-lighting
Expensive, imperfect build quality, sharpness issues
Sony's KDL-46XBR45 delivers fantastic image quality, but this excellence comes at a price.

MEASURING just under 2", the Samsung LA52A850 is the thinnest big screen TV on the market to date.
Impressive blacks, great colours, sharp image, lots of features, ultra-thin design
Some noticeable uniformity issues, a little detail lost in dark areas, large screen reveals more of the flaws in standard-definition footage
Another great TV from Samsung, the Series 8 offers the same excellent image quality and features found in its other units. However, its awkward positioning in the company's range may turn off some users who are willing to spend a little more to get ...

THE Bravia KDL40Z4500 is Australia's first 200Hz television, with a great Motion Flow mode.
Great 200Hz motion mode, excellent contrast and blacks, DLNA certified, good SD performance for a 1080p screen
Some annoying judder when not running Motion Flow, default Cinema setting may be too soft for some
Sony's Bravia KDL40Z4500 is a fantastic Full HD TV. It's Australia's first 200Hz television and it provides an excellent Motion Flow mode; the faults we could find with it were mainly a question of personal taste.

THE LA52A750 has new connectivity and streaming features and a built-in content library.
Great Full HD image quality, built-in content library, video playback via USB, great design, network connectivity
A little more noise than normal in the image, glossy finish can be distracting
Samsung's LA52A750 is a fantastic upgrade to the previously top-of-the-line Series 6 units. It has the same great image quality but throws in a bunch of new connectivity and streaming features and a built-in content library.

THIS TV isn't perfect but considering the size, price tag and target market it does a solid job.
Cute design, great colour reproduction, good HD playback
Blacks can be cloudy, some lack of detail in dark areas
A strong contender for a place in your kitchen or bedroom, or just as a backup TV, the Sony KDL20S4000 is a 20" 720p panel that offers good image quality for both HD and SD playback. It isn't perfect, but considering the size, price tag and target ...

THIS 42" plasma television is sure to impress those who think that bigger is better.
Great blacks, excellent contrast, rich accurate colours, good motion handling
Minor noise issues, calibration options lacking
Another great plasma from Panasonic. The TH-42PZ800A produces a great picture with some of the best blacks we've seen; it only suffers from a few niggling issues.

THIS LCD stumbles on standard-definition content but its high-definition picture quality is great.
Vibrant, clear picture, handles 1080p content brilliantly
Standard-definition video looks blurred and interpolated, no 100Hz support
It stumbles on standard-definition content and doesn't support 100Hz picture technology, but Sony's 52" W series LCD is hard to fault in high-definition picture quality tests.

AN imperfect 100Hz mode and a lack of inputs for older devices prevent this from being an easy choice.
Good picture quality, four HDMI inputs
High price, 100Hz mode flickers, not many legacy inputs
It has all the right specifications, but an imperfect 100Hz mode and a lack of inputs for older devices stop the 42PFL903D from being an easy choice.
