Panasonic TC-P55GT50

If you're shopping for a 2012 TV and picture quality is your highest priority you should, in ascending order of financial recklessness, get a good plasma, splurge for an Elite or wait and buy an OL ED . If getting the best picture for your money is...

The Panasonic TC-PGT50 series exhibited outstanding overall picture quality, characterized by exceedingly deep black levels with great shadow detail, accurate colors, and solid bright-room performance. Unlike LCDs, as a plasma it has superb off-angle...

The GT50 isn't as strong a value as some competing plasmas. It uses more power than LCD TVs, and doesn't perform as well in bright rooms as those with matte screens. It doesn't come with 3D glasses. The GT50 is only available in 50-inch and larger sizes.

Superb picture quality and beautiful design place the Panasonic GT50 in the top tier of plasma TVs, but it's more expensive than others with similar performance.

Panasonic TC-P55UT50

Panasonic has a reputation for producing high-quality plasma televisions, and with its 2012 models the company has not disappointed. The new lineup has single-handedly changed the level of quality we now expect from midrange televisions. The Panasonic...

In pure dollar/performance terms the Panasonic TC-PUT50 series is one of the best TVs we've seen, with astounding picture quality for the money. Black levels are the equal of Panasonic's ST50 series in a darkened room, shadow detail is very good, and...

The UT50 series doesn't perform very well in a lit room, with blacks becoming muddy and indistinct. The performance of 3D is only passable, with quite distinct ghosting effects. The TV lacks advanced setup controls, which makes tweaking a better...

The Panasonic TC-P50UT50 plasma TV nearly matches the world-beating picture quality of the ST50 series, at an even lower price.

Panasonic TC-P55GT50 Review – 55-inch Plasma HDTV

Panasonic TC-P55GT50 3D Plasma Review

The GT50 does a very nice job of up-converting standard definition signals and presenting them in an almost HD quality. This is a strength of both plasma technology and Panasonic's processing.

- The Cinema setting is pretty good and you will immediately notice a good jump in color and radiance and warmer tones

"Mistaken 9/10 in picture quality. Too soft/not sharp!"

I might be a bit picky when it comes to TVs, but I enjoy my old HP 42" 720p plasma from 2006 better. I was hoping for a big upgrade due to the reviews, but the GT50 looks better when it's off. I used C/nets rec settings and have a dark living room.

Even for being a person who appreciates plasmas, can't think of one.

Completely overrated. Soft smooth picture with very little sharpness. There's a reason C/net recommends you keep the sharpness to 0. If you turn it up, the picture becomes grainy and unbearable to watch.

"Best Bang 4 buck! Cleanest picture in this category!"

Overall this is a great unit. I researched many models and actually looked at each and every one I was considering in person BEFORE making any decisions. This model offered me the most for the least. I am living with the lack of HDMI inputs just fine...

Color Intensity is awesome for the price point of this unit. The blacks are remarkably concise. 3D is average but I am not a huge fan yet of any of the units out there except the theatre.

Needs more HDMI(only has 2) ports. Wireless capability should be built in.

"Great picture for the price"

Great tv. No complaints. Got at Costco for $749. Love it so far but new yet. We'll see how it performs with a blu ray which I have yet to purchase. I'll need to get glasses and check out the 3D.

Great picture!

Only 2 HDMI hook ups

"8 Blink Failure"

8 blink failure after 5-minutes of first start-up. Panasonic customer service so far has been horrible. Not sure how I am going to handle it at this point. I would give it zero stars if I could.

Great looking paperweight.

Complete failure after 5-minutes of operation. Panasonic customer service has been horrible.

"GREAT TV! GREAT PRICE!"

After doing a lot of research and reading countless reviews I decided to pull the trigger on the 55GT50. My previous TV was/is a 46" Samsung LCD from 2006. I was all set to order a new Samsung LED, but after reading several reviews and 2 trips to BB I...

Picture looks stunning

TV is not sexy like some of the others
