Panasonic TX-L42E3 review

If you're looking for a classy Freeview HD TV upgrade but want to keep a lid of fripperies such as 3D and net connectivity, then Panasonic's TX-L42E3 could be your TV of choice.

Great image dynamics ; Integrated SD card reader

Ugly EPG

Panasonic Viera E3 (TX-L42E3B) review

The 42-inch Panasonic Viera TX-L42E3B is a good entry-level LED set that offers rich and engaging pictures, as well as decent audio. It suffers from some motion blur, though, and its interface isn't great.

Impressive audio for an LED TV ; Deep, rich black levels ; Bright, punchy colours

Lacks media-streaming and Internet features ; Occasional motion blur

Overall, the Panasonic Viera TX-L42E3B is an accomplished set that delivers good-quality pictures, with rich colours and deeper blacks than we'd expect at this price point. Its audio is also significantly better than that of most rivals. But it's...

Panasonic Viera TX-L42E3B

We struggle to find a compelling reason to buy the biggest screen from Panasonic's new entry-level E3 series.

Nice looking set for the money ; Rich, warm colours ; Impressive backlight consistency

Not cheap enough ; HD doesn't look particularly sharp ; Very limited multimedia support

On a sheer performance level, there’s actually nothing seriously wrong with the L42E3B. Its pictures largely avoid the backlight inconsistency problem found on many other edge LED TVs, and are warmly coloured and reasonably dynamic. It even sounds...

Bedroom TV for holiday caravan

Brilliant little set. Picks up loads of channels including HD on small indoor aerial. Good picture and sound, perfect for intended use. Robust, well designed remote easy to use, same as bigger Panasonics. Very good purchase.

A lovely television, but you'll need extra speakers

In many ways I can't fault this television. The picture quality is stunning, it's easy to use and interacts really well with my Sony Blu-Ray DVD player, so that I can watch BBC iPlayer, YouTube and LoveFilm quite easily. The one area where this and...

Great Buy

No techies in this house so we read lots of tv reviews. Panasonic seemed most reliable. Got the 42" because it was on sale. Sports and nature are fab on the 42". Don't need to don glasses to read subtitles either :) Extremely pleased.
