Panasonic TX-P42X50B review

By making the mediocre look marvelous, this great value HD-ready TV makes a compelling argument for plasma

Unbeatable value ; File support via USB ; SDXC Card slot ; 2D Blu-ray quality ; Versatile pictures

Two HDMI ; No smart TV apps ; Lacks brightness ; Limited shelf-life

With the TX-P42X50B, Panasonic makes a compelling, though possibly last-ditch, argument for plasma as the tech of choice for living rooms.

Updated with video: To the right person, this budget 42in plasma is one heck of a bargain

Brilliant performance with films, Astoundingly cheap, Solid multimedia playback

Pictures not bright in light rooms, Slightly orangey reds, no S-Sub PC or DLNA connectivity

PANASONIC TX-P42X50B 42" VIERA PLASMA TV

I have not been disappointed with this TV the picture is excellent far clearer and shaper than my former LCD TV. The Viera features are a fantastic bonus being able to plug a portable hard drive into the usb and access all my movies pictures and music...

picture quality, viera media player built in, usb & sd input, optical output for digital surround sound, hd freeview tv tuner, lan connection for tv guide & extra features, good build quality, easy set up

internal sound inadequate for me
