Panasonic Viera TX-P42X10 42in Plasma TV

Hot on the heals of its 50in cousin, the Panasonic Viera TX-P42X10 looks like a bit of a bargain.

The glossy bezel is pretty spartan apart from the centrally mounted Panasonic logo below the screen and a very subtle Viera tag at the top left. There's also a discrete and slim hardware power switch just below the logo, for anyone who's decided that...

Panasonic Viera TX-P37X10 37in Plasma TV

Panasonic continues to fly the plasma flag with its latest 37in telly.

The screen also claims a startling 2,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio - the ‘dynamic' bit referring to an Eco mode that can dim the image's brightness output automatically in response to the ambient light conditions in your room. Worth a mention, too,...

You might scoff at a £700 set that doesn't boast Full HD, but don't write off this Panny yet – it could just surprise you

Get beyond the unglamorous resolution and the TX-P42X10B is nothing but fantastic value

Panasonic Viera TX-P50X10 50in Plasma TV

If you're after a 50in plasma TV that won't break the bank, the Panasonic TX-P50X10 could be the one.

The colour issues noted with the P50X10's standard definition pictures stop me being able to give the P50X10 any higher than eight for picture quality, as was the case with the P37X10. But the P50X10's marginally superior HD efforts and, in particular,...

Panasonic Viera TX-P50X10B review

The Panasonic Viera TX-P50X10B isn't one for the committed videophile -- or audiophile, for that matter -- but it's a brilliant TV for people who want a large screen, without having to cough up £2,000. Picture quality is very good and the screen is...

Picture quality is good with Freeview and very good with hi-def content ; Simple to use ; Good price

Sound quality lets the set down

Conclusion There were times when we noticed that the Panasonic Viera TX-P50X10B's picture looked less detailed than 1080p sets we've tested. That said, most people simply won't be able to tell. Panasonic has produced a sturdy, well-priced TV that...

Panasonic TX-P42X10B

Get beyond the unglamorous resolution and the TX-P42X10B is nothing but value

Great picture performance at the price ; pleasant enough design

Gives some detail and definition away to Full HD screens

Panasonic TX-P37X10

If you're looking for a great-value set that excels with Freeview and DVD, this could be ideal. But Blu-ray fans can buy better

Produces deep blacks ; decent Freeview tuner ; copes well with movement ; good speakers ; price

Struggles to show finer detail ; lacks image depth and realism of class-leading sets

Panasonic TX-P50X10

The P50X10 sports a rather dour image, it has to be said. It's just a rather plasticky black rectangle, really. It also 'only' has three HDMIs rather than the four found on some of its rivals today.

Superb HD picture performer, excellent black level response, ridiculously good value, wide viewing angle

Some rogue colours, especially with standard def; a little judder; it's not full HD
