Current issue...

Excellent 3D pictures and decent 2D performance; above average audio; good value

Smart portal is still undernourished; menu system is quite demanding; average shadow detailing

Depth effects are anything but passive on this slender Easy 3D telly

2D clarity ; Easy 3D depth ; Wi-Fi ; Four pairs of 3D specs ; 29mm depth ; Freeview HD

Net TV lacks apps ; 3D viewing angle ; GUI needs streamlining ; Crushed black levels ; Average audio

Philips 55PFL6007 review

Stylish looks, excellent 3D performance and the immersive Ambilight system help the Philips 55PFL6007 stand out from the crowd. Its smart TV system still lags behind the competition, however, and its picture processing system is difficult to use. While...

Deep black levels ; Ambilight system helps draw you into the onscreen pictures ; Strong contrast performance ; Stylish looks

Internet features still lag behind the competition ; Takes effort to get the best picture quality across different input sources ; Motion processing isn't as strong as the competition

This is a set with a lot of strengths. It's sensibly priced and has a very stylish design. Its Ambilight system works extremely well in darkened rooms and the TV produces excellent HD and 3D pictures for the most part.

Philips 55PFL6007

Philips' latest mid-range TV puts the company back on track.

Class-leading passive 3D picture quality ; Excellent 2D picture quality ; Very good sound quality

Underwhelming online service ; Slightly sluggish and complex operating system ; Input lag could impact gaming

, YouTube, Viewster, Euronews, and iConcerts - though Blinkbox is expected to be added soon - is the real let down here.

Punchy, vibrant picture ; Ambilight ; Loads of setup options ; High spec ; 3D glasses included

Black detail could be improved ; Some holes in smart offerings

Not bad, then. Not bad at all. Philips has done pretty much everything right with this TV. Yes, there could be more texture in deep black areas, but that's true of pretty much every single LCD set out there. And yes, the menus could be a little more...

European Green TV 2012-2013

While today's TVs are being offered with ever-bigger screens, this doesn't have to mean a bigger cost to the environment. With the 55PFL6007, Philips has created a set with increased functionality over its previous models while maintaining its standing...
