With impressive eco credentials, this TV should suit those shocked by the amount of power their current LCD TV consumes

Eco credentials; Looks lovely; Genuinely ingenious design; Good all-round performance; Brilliant remote control

Not cheap for a 42-inch TV; No Freeview HD tuner; Limited multimedia tools; Pictures can be a bit noisy or processed

This hasn't stopped Philips producing what is easily the most ecologically sound TV to date in the attractive shape of the 42PFL6805H

Philips Econova 6000 (42PFL6805H) review

 

The 42-inch Philips Econovo 42PFL6805H is very expensive and lacks some important features, but it is also kinder to the environment than most TVs, looks great and has very good picture quality.

Low power consumption ; Good black levels ; Rich colours ; Smooth motion ; Beautiful design

No Internet features ; No HD tuner ; SD pictures can look a little rough around the edges ; Pricey

It doesn't offer the very best picture quality in its class, but Philips' Econova is a great compromise between eco friendliness and outright performance

Lovely styling; recycled and recyclable; remarkably low power consumption for a flatscreen; likeable pictures from all sources; stable upscaling of SD; decent sound

Lacks the detail, colour neutrality and motion handling of the best in class; no Freeview HD
