Samsung PNE8000 review: Samsung PNE8000

The Samsung PNE8000 series exhibited outstanding overall picture quality, characterized by exceedingly deep black levels, accurate colors, superb video processing, and very good 3D. Unlike LCDs, as a plasma TV it has superb off-angle and uniformity...

Samsung charges too much for extra features that are largely unnecessary and poorly implemented. Its picture delivers slightly worse shadow detail and bright-room performance than some competitive plasmas, and its maximum light output is somewhat dim.

The expensive Samsung PNE8000 series comes through with stellar picture quality, but its main appeal is to people who crave the latest gadgetry in their plasma TV.

Samsung PN64E8000

While OLED technology is grabbing headlines, Samsung is also quietly updating their plasma lineup with the PNE80000, a Smart TV that features new apps, gesture and voice control, facial recognition and an improved panel. No word on pricing, though...

Improved plasma panel promises better color ; Voice and gesture control ; Cloud connectivity and a new suite of apps

Could be too smart for some consumers

Though the Samsung PN64E8000 has a brand new panel that supposedly improves color and contrast, the most heavily-advertised improvement to Samsung’s flagship plasma was a complement of connectivity and user control features. New apps take advantage of...

Samsung PS64E8000

It's big, it's bold, and it's also rather good.

Excellent 2D and 3D pictures ; Lots of online video services ; Good value

Tricky gesture and voice control options ; Pictures not as bright as LCD ones ; Minor skin tone flaws

Despite all the niggles, though, Samsung’s Smart TV platform still impresses overall thanks to the impressive amount of video streaming services it carries - these being by far the most useful things on any Smart TV platform.

As smart as smart TV gets; delivers clean, sharp pictures but sound is average

Super-smart, futuristic TV ; clean and sharp pictures ; punchy colour balance

Average sound ; black levels could be better

A future TV that’s ready now, this is as smart as smart TV gets

Samsung E8000 (PS64E8000) Flagship 3D Plasma TV Review

Samsung's flagship plasma TV promises to deliver big screen entertainment and reference features, let's see if it delivers.

Excellent black levels and shadow detail ; Impressive dynamic range and contrast ratio ; Reference greyscale and colour after calibration ; Superior video processing ; Incredible set of features ; Superb calibration controls ; Sublime motion handling ;...

3D glasses need a rethink ; Only 3 HDMI inputs ; Quad stand remains an acquired taste ; No aspect ratio button on remote ; iOS remote app doesn't work

A future TV that's ready now, this is as smart as smart TV gets

Super-smart, futuristic TV; clean and sharp pictures; punchy colour balance

Average sound; black levels could be better

The picture is a smidge off the pace of the best in some areas, but if you\'re looking for the ultimate in design, features and future-proof cleverness in your TV, then it’s hard to recommend looking elsewhere.

"Bad power supply"

WARNING! Do not purchase any television from Samsung. I expected years of service from a $3000 television. In less than 2 years the power supply failed on my Samsung plasma. (a simple Internet search will show you that the power supplies are poorly...

"Faulty screen that cracks called "THERMAL INFUSION"."

Samsung TVs have a manufacturers defect called THERMAL INFUSION. Unfortunately they automatically call it an owner caused issue even before they have any information on the TV. Anyone with half of a brain can see the cracks are behind the front glass...

"Poor Workmanship and designed to fail."

It appears Samsung TVs have no quality control (other than the consumer being stuck with a defective product, so if you got a good one, you are very lucky, but I suspect you will have problems at some point). Right out of the factory sealed box, my...

U-Tube is worth the slow painstaking process to get to.

Poor quality control, terrible customer service, if you get stuck with a bad one, like me, you are SOL. Problem appears to be with all high end Samsung TVs.
