Samsung PND7000 review

Earlier this year we called Samsung's most expensive plasma TV, the PND8000 series, the "Best overall TV of 2011 (so far)." Now that we've tested its less expensive brother, the PND7000 series reviewed here, that designation isn't as certain. Sure the...

The Samsung PND7000 series has outstanding overall picture quality, with excellent black-level performance and extremely accurate color. The screen can handle bright rooms well and exhibits the nearly perfect screen uniformity of plasma. Key features...

The relatively expensive PND7000 cannot produce full shadow detail or proper 1080p/24 cadence without sacrificing some black-level performance. Smart Hub lacks Amazon Instant, its search is next to useless, and its interface can be cluttered and...

With picture quality on par with the best TVs we've ever tested, the Samsung PND7000 plasma represents an excellent value for videophiles who don't demand to own the top of the line.

Warning: Defective refurbished parts used in repair!!!!

I bought this TV is August 2011 in preparation for football season. When I got it home, I immediately noticed the problems with the brightness and fast moving images but assumed that was acceptable for this level of TV (which I have found out is not a...

When working, TV's picture quality is OK (not great).

1) The biggest con is the reliability and warranty service -- READ BELOW 2) TV does not handle fast-moving images as well as other plasmas. 3) TV does have a brightness problem.

Amazing picture quality diminished by loud buzzing.

NOTE: The brightness fluctuations that people complain about were pretty distracting, but there is a (possibly warranty-voiding) fix available if you search on AVS Forum and it works perfectly. It fixed my issues and made the only con the buzzing. I...

-AMAZING picture quality -Thin and attractive design -3D seems to work well -Great picture controls, 10pt white balance, etc. -Smart Hub is decent but I don't use it at all

-The BUZZING! I have sensitive hearing and on my set the buzzing was so high-pitched that even with the TV at volume 15-20 I could hear the buzzing from 10' away. I'm returning this TV, I just can't stand the distracting hiss emanating from it.

"Excellent picture quality and beautifully designed."

I edit photographs on hi-resolution computer monitors so I'm used to great color accuracy. This set is almost up to the color quality (gamut) of my NEC monitor, which is amazing for a tv. I wouldn't hesitate recommending this to anyone looking for a...

Contrast, black levels, great for motion/sports, slim, clean design. Wide viewing angles, sound better than expected for this slim of a tv.

Color fidelity not as accurate as my, apparently, unrealistic expectations. Skin tones from highlights to mid tones can have some banding and a be a bit too saturated in the reds. Doesn't come with 3D glasses (which is typical of most sets).

Fantastic quality, picture and hardware alike

This TV is replacing an older unit. It's amazingly nice, really. The depths of the blacks is astoundingly nice, the colors are vibrant, and there are enough knobs to tune the picture to suit even the pickiest TV watcher. Initial installation took about...

Easy setup, dark as night blacks, excellent picture quality, good input selection, quite passable audio.

Text entry methods change. Sometimes it's an on-screen keyboard, other times it's very frustrating telephone-style entry.

BEST TV EVER FOR THE PRICE!!

THIS TV IS GREAT!!!!! I've had this TV now for about a month and it is Fantastic, and the word fantastic is not something I just toss around freely. The picture quality after calibration is amazing (I used the settings found on C-Net) and I say for the...

Great Picture, Great Price, Great Size (59")

Slight buzz and the Smart part of the TV is not so great

Great TV so far

This is a great TV and the best picture I've ever seen so far. There is some issues with Brightness Pops, however, Samsung said that they will send me a patch fix if it doesn't stop after 50 hours and a calibration. The 3D is magnificent and color...

"Do your homework before spending this much $$ on a TV."

Per the suggestion in one of the other reviews, I Googled "samsung cracked plasma". After reading the posts at %s I decided to skip on this TV. I do not know how many of these tv's fail, but given the responses all over the internet it is enough to...

You would think the Samsung name meant quality, but apparently maybe not so much with this TV.

Since I don't have one I have to rely to what I read on the internet. There are good and bad reviews.

WOW!!! Awesome tv!!!!

This HdTv is an amazing advancement in tech I like to believe. With realistic colors and very dark blacks that just make the hd just pop. Making it seems as it were in 3D. The added extras that you probably won't really use as much( Like Apps and so...

Awesome Hd, very nice 3D and very nice looking frame. :) Perfect for watching movies. And as thin as a LED tv!! WOW!!! Really enjoy all the calibration options it gives you! This tv comes with the works with picture and picture, 3D, Netflixs, blockbuster,

Alot of screen blur when there is fast action and the camera moves fast from left to right. In which you can use the cinema smooth but you sacrifice the blacks. Another is Image Retention. This being my first Plasma im not use to trying to be careful afte
