Samsung PN51E8000 Plasma

Not long ago plasma and LCD were in a fierce competition for the flat panel market, but LCD has dominated sales the past few years. While the general public has moved to LCD for brighter images and more size choices...

Samsung PN51E8000HDTV

We were first introduced to Samsung's ES8000 series back in May. It's their flagship LCD for 2012, and on top of being an impressive, high-end TV, it also operated with some innovative voice and gesture controls, and showed off Samsung's content-heavy...

Excellent color accuracy ; Some of the most convincing 3D in the industry ; Huge viewing angle

Motion that’s more blurry than competitors

The Samsung PN51E8000 is a welcome entry to Samsung’s excellent flagship line-up.

The Samsung PNE8000 is easily the most full-featured plasma TV on the market; no other can touch its sheer doodad-ification. It's the opposite of a " dumb monitor, " building in not only the most app-happy Smart TV suite available, but also voice and...

The Samsung PNE8000 series exhibited outstanding overall picture quality, characterized by exceedingly deep black levels, accurate colors, superb video processing, and very good 3D. Unlike LCDs, as a plasma TV it has superb off-angle and uniformity...

Samsung charges too much for extra features that are largely unnecessary and poorly implemented. Its picture delivers slightly worse shadow detail and bright-room performance than some competitive plasmas, and its maximum light output is somewhat dim.

The expensive Samsung PNE8000 series comes through with stellar picture quality, but its main appeal is to people who crave the latest gadgetry in their plasma TV.

"Great quality TV"

Fantastic TV! We love it! The biggest gripe would be the quality of standard definition shows my older parents watch since they have no interest in doing HD cable until they move in a few months across country. Then you bet I'll be plugging it into HD...

Picture quality

Standard definition quality isn't amazing - but not bad.

"Very Good but can be better."

A great buy for US$1250 or less. Comparable with Panasonic GT50. Worth trying.

Great vivid colours. Black levels are good. Great smart applications.

3D depth control is missing!! White background is dull. Little bit of Cross talk in 3D.

Forget about the gimmicky voice and motion control features -- this set has plenty to make you sit up and take notice of it. It marries great online features with good audio quality and strong picture performance across both 2D and 3D. Its price is a...

Great online features ; Skype video calling without the need for any add-ons ; Strong 2D and 3D images ; Good sound quality

Expensive ; Motion and voice control features are not worth the effort

Samsung PS51E8000 review

The E8000 is Samsung's flagship plasma TV and it comes in 51in and 64in models. It also has all the extras you expect from a Samsung smart TV, such as a host of internet services accessed via the Smart Hub, an integrated media player, 3D, and many...

Its image quality and motion smoothing could be better, but it's packed full of great online services and smart features

Panasonic has already set the plasma TV bar high for 2012. Can Samsung's flagship keep up?

Excellent online service ; Innovative control systems ; Very good pictures, especially with 3D

Gesture control system could be better ; Black level not as deep as Panasonic plasma's ; Some motion issues

We felt sure when we tested its P50ST50 that Panasonic had set a very high bar for 2012 plasma technology. So it’s not entirely surprising to find that even Samsung’s new flagship plasma set doesn’t manage to scale the same picture heights, at least in...
