Samsung PN58C550 Review – 58-inch Plasma HDTV

The Samsung PN58C550 is the 58 inch model in Samsung's 550 Series of 1080p Plasma HDTVs. There are multiple features that make this set desirable to fans of modern televisions.

All these features, and many of the features we did not even highlight, make this a fine new television.

Set up my unit on 5/21 which I bought from a brick/mortar store (sorry Amazon!), after researching the hell out of it. My equipment includes a WDTV Media Player (HDMI w/optical out), Nintendo Wii (analog), HD HTPC on the make, and Denon AVR-590(two...

Great picture out of the box ; NO BUZZ ; Media Play ; Input panel is easy to access ; Manual states that it can connect to a home network ; Very easy to setup ; Easy remote to use

No memory card access ; Cannot tell unit to show subtitles only when muted ; Lack of widgets

HD picture is wonderful but I am having SD problems

I bought this HDTV for my living room and a Sharp Aquos LED for my bedroom. I am very very happy with the high def channels thru my cable provider but the SD channels have lines and static that is unbearable. I even went and got a new digital HD cable...

Wonderful HD channel picture, great ease in initial setup, love the look and the stand. The size is perfect for my 500 sq ft living room. Box is huge but very nice engineering with the lift off design instead of having to pick the TV up out of it

Standard Definition (SD) channels are horrible. Static and lines running thru vertically, worse than any of my old tvs ever. NO closed caption option, has to be chosen thru a menu on the cable box and if it is set up with HDMI that menu unaccessable

Best Bang For The Buck!

I ended up going the Plasma route after alot of reviewing. I purchased the 58" PN58C550 & absolutely LOVE it.. Picture is flawless...and no buzzing!! (reading the forums some sammy plasmas are buzzers some are not. Guess I got a good one!) I went...

Best value out there

You can't beat this TV for the price. If you get your internet apps through a PS3 or something else, this is the TV for you!

Incredible Picture, dominates LCD TVs

faint buzz, only noticeable with no volume

Cannot go wrong with this T.V.

I purchased this t.v. at Best Buy for $1,399.00 two days ago. I had found it at Conns for same price but Best Buy was running special where they threw in 19 inch t.v. for free. If its free, why not. So far I love this t.v. It has a stunning picture...

If picture quality and price are important!

I chose this TV based on the Best Picture, highest resolution 1080, contrast ration (2Million to 1), refresh rate 600hz, and the .001 pixel response time. I did not want internet or social apps ect. 3D was not important. I like Samsung, my old...

Great picture. Nice design. Features are easy to use. Remote is simple. The Picture is awesome, the price was $1,499 at Best Buy. The TV is simple and the picture is amazing

Sound is OK. I don't think any flat screen of any brand is all that good

Great Plazma!!

Great picture HD TV and Blue Ray. Dvd's play great also. Did not have it calibrated yet and may not, doesn't seem like it needs it. Sound is good for a tv speakers. 4 HDMI connections come in handy. I would recommend this to others.

Great picture! Compared with a similar Panasonic and the Samsung won hands down

A behemoth of a TV both inside and out.

This TV is really great. I have been doing my research for months, and it was either the PN58C550 or the PN58B860. The difference between the C and B is that C is 2010 panels, while B is 2009. There have also been many threads about buzzing on the B...

Awesome picture controls, sleek design, stunning picture quality, tons of inputs

HUGE box, needed a minivan to take it home! Radiates a little bit of heat, but is an Energy Star TV so no worse than an LCD. Faint, VERY faint buzz
