Samsung UN55B7000

As HDTVs become more common--some would say commoditized--TV makers go to greater lengths to justify higher price tags. Nobody is going as far as Samsung this year. The company is the only one thus far to announce a full lineup of edge-lit LED-based...

Produces relatively deep black levels; accurate color; very good dejudder processing; sleek styling with 1.2-inch thick panel; extensive feature set with Yahoo widgets, network streaming, and a lot of built-in content; extremely energy-efficient

Expensive; less-uniform screen than other LCDs; poor off-angle viewing; backlight fluctuates with program brightness; dark areas tinged bluer; shiny screen can cause reflections in bright rooms; red frame isn't for everyone

Although its picture quality can't quite live up to the high price, the Samsung UNB7000 series is a technological and design tour de force.

Samsung UN55B7000 LCD HDTV First Impressions Review - Intro

The UN55B7000 is in the middle of Samsung's new Luxia LED TV range, below the 8 series models, but above the 6 series. It's available in 3 sizes: the 55 inches (the UN55B7000), 46 inches (the LN46B7000) and 40 inches (the LN 40B7000). It doesn't have...

Although it's hard to draw too many conclusions from our limited hands on at the CES show, the signs for the UN55B7000 look good; the design is clean and the demos look very promising. But we'll have to wait until the display is released before we can...

Samsung UN55B7000 55 inch 1080p LED HDTV Reviewed

Samsung's latest 55-inch LCD HDTV uses LED backlighting instead of a fluorescent backlight. This allows for improved energy efficiency and is better for the environment (no mercury), but how does it impact performance? Andrew Robinson answers that...

The UN55B7000 is quite a statement in terms of performance and features however it does have its drawbacks especially if you're a consumer who hasn't yet taken the leap to HD. If you have not than this display is clearly not aimed at you and given its...

Samsung UN55B7000 Review – 55-inch LED HDTV

LCD TVs have it particularly rough in this regard, since they rely on a backlight behind the LCD panel to illuminate the image. Or do they? Samsung has developed an ingenious alternative to conventional and even LED backlights called LED edge lighting....

Do these sets use local dimming?” I asked, wondering if the new LCD models employed the same LED backlighting technique that helps make the LN55A950—reviewed in our February 2009 Face Off—such an exceptional set.

"Do these sets use local dimming?" I asked, wondering if the new LCD models employed the same LED backlighting technique that helps make the LN55A950-reviewed in our February 2009 Face Off-such an exceptional set.

Many of the set's special controls are only available in the Standard and Movie modes. These include a seven-step Gamma adjustment, Color Space (a color management system with a full set of controls to fine-tune the color gamut), and White Balance...

Samsung UN55B7000

If you want a very thin TV and are willing to settle for mid range display settings this TV may be for you.

The very thin design and good low light settings make it stand out

A 3,000,000:1 contrast ratio and only 120Hz refresh rate are hard to overlook

The Samsung UN55B7000 is on the lower end of Samsungs LED TVs but still packs a punch when it comes to an LED TV. It may not have all the bells and whistles found in our high end LED TVs but overall does what it is meant to do.
