Sharp LC42D72U sucks

If you buy a Sharp Aquos, buy with at least 3 years warranty. After facing the problems, I found that many Sharp LCD Aquos owners had faced similar problems and are struggling with it. Imagine - I spent $1700 to buy this supposed piece of masterclass...

I bought this TV in Jan 2008. Ran great for about 12 months

Once the warranty was over was when the problems started. Sharp customer service was not too helpful and the repair centers wanted $85 to just take a look. Hence I took to replacing major parts myself. $250 spent and still no luck. DON'T BUY SHARP

perfect picture

It has been 3 days of hdtv bliss. I picked this set over dozens of other I shopped. The price range, quality, hd set type, (lcd over plasma or dlp), all fit my need. I found this set on sale for 1000.00, so I pulled the trigger. I have not found a flaw...

blacks are rich and the price is right

none so far

Like so many here, I shopped, perused, evaluated and researched for an absurdley long time before I pulled the trigger ( thanks CNET ). Every time I got close, the options, prices and technical lead would shift ( or there'd be a family $ issue- like...

Very easy to set up and use. Excellent HDTV picture. Plenty of inputs. Nice size and weight for my situation

Could have stronger sound. Instructions for picture optimization could be clearer

This is why Sharp is the LCD benchmark.

Now that the prices have come down, I strongly recommend this television. I've had it for about a month now, and I've tested it on every HD program I can. It plays regular and HD DVD's really well. The colors are crisp, and the blacks are truly black....

Great picture, really nice glossy-black frame, easy-to use menu's, amazing black levels. At times, I feel like I'm watching a plasma (the blacks are that good)

Motion blur, but this is a problem with all LCD's. Sometimes there are white lines on the outside borders of the screen while watching some HD sources (can be solved by changing the view mode)

Great TV. Don't hesitate to buy one.

I did a lot of research before buying this TV and so far my decision seems to be the correct one. Out of the box it is set up to look nice in a store, not a living room. After a little tweaking (the Avia Home Theatre Guide helped a lot) the set looks...

Number of outputs, picture quality, overall look

So far we love the TV

Got a good deal on the tv and it works great. Like the number of inputs and the PC connection.

Good picture, scales normal tv to widescreen well

some shows seem a little darker than other tvs. Not too bad though
