Sharp Aquos LC-52D92U

HDTV with unique autodimming backlight and great-looking cabinet gave a good performance, but other sets were better.

Great-sounding speakers ; Automatic backlight adjustment

No display settings access from TV ; No RGB controls

The remote accompanying the LC-52D92U matches the design of other well-organized Sharp remotes. It's important, too, because there's no other way to access the TV's on-screen menu. The TV itself has only volume, channel, and power buttons. Though the...

Sharp Sharp LC-52D92U

The Aquos LC-52D92U, a 52-inch LCD HDTV from Sharp's premium line, offers style in spades. But its performance fell short of that turned in by competing sets, and its lack of premium features may displease video aficionados.

Great-sounding speakers ; Automatic backlight adjustment

No display settings access from TV ; No RGB controls

HDTV with unique auto-dimming-backlight and great-looking cabinet gave a good performance, but other sets were better.

Sharp AQUOS LC-52D92U

Sharp's best 52-inch liquid-crystal HDTV serves up superior image contrast and impressive detail, but its rough treatment of interlaced video lets too many jagged edges taint its picture.

Superior picture contrast. Four 1080p-compatible digital video inputs. No overscan with HD video.

Ineffective video processor produced jagged-edge artifacts with interlaced content.

Sharp Aquos LC-46D92U LCD HDTV

The Basics: The D92U Series is one of Sharp's highest-end LCD lines, and its marquee feature is the use of 120Hz technology, which doubles the TV's frame rate from 60 to 120Hz in order to reduce the appearance of judder and render smoother motion. The...

It has come to my attention that some of you out there feel that I am, for some reason, biased against LCDs. I would like to apologize. I am sorry for pointing out poor black levels, inaccurate color, horrendous viewing angles, mediocre contrast...

Sharp LC-52D92U 1080p LCD Flat Panel Television

To recap, just a few weeks ago I reviewed Sharp's AQUOS LC-52D62U, a 52"LCD flat panel. I received this set in late December/early January, and shortly thereafter Sharp announced the '92 series AQUOS flat panels, which it claimed would offer superior...

Ultimate AV: Sharp LC-52D92U 1080p LCD Flat Panel Television

Like the '62 series sets the LC-52D92U comes from Sharp's 8th generation Kameyama factory. It's actually not as curvaceously styled as the '62 series set, which I missed. I thought that set kinda had fins, if you know what I mean.

Full Resolution at 1080p Natural, seamless quality to images Excellent Blacks Realistic Colors

Doesn't Accept 1080p/24 AV Modes only accessible from hidden drawer on remote

This is a bummer, but I can't recommend this set until it's clear that these banding and uniformity issues are in check. With the LC-52D92U these problems were severe enough to be a clear and consistent distraction. And, in light of receiving a second...
