Sharp LC-52 XD 1 E

The remote control is a bit awkward, and the menu confuses even technophiles., Too cozy - VGA and YUV share the same input., Unnatural judder on Blu-ray films - 24p format is not accepted

Sharp LC-37 XD 1 E

The menu is confusing, with too many options and small writing., VGA and YUV have to share the same input., The video signal processing produces some distinct picture noise

Sharp LC-52XD1E review

Sharp's latest LCD range just keeps getting bigger and better

Great price for such a large LCD ; Scintillatingly vibrant colours

No dedicated set of component connections

The quality king-sized screen market is no longer exclusively plasma

Sharp LC-42XD1E review

A major statement of intent from Sharp

Looks great ; Vastly improved black levels ; Decent price

No component video input

This 42in Full HD LCD TV sees the acclaimed flatscreen manufacturer step up its game in emphatic fashion

Sharp LC-37XD1E review

Full HD resolution, but with some compromises

Attractive ; Full HD

Lifeless audio ; Standard-def pics disappoint

The resolution is an attraction, but this Full HD LCD is far from flawless

Sharp Aquos LC-52XD1E review

Another big hitter in the LCD corner

Plenty of HD bells and whistles ; Superbly clean and detailed picture

Black levels still not on plasma levels ; Some resolution loss on moving images

Deeper blacks are found on plasmas, but if your pockets are deep enough this is a truly spectacular example of LCD TV

Sharp Aquos LC52XD1E review

Big, bold and its pictures are often really quite beautiful

Lack of noise ; Black levels are good

Picture loses contrast if watched from angles ; High price

A true 'statement' product that proves that no big-screen TV buyer should ignore LCDs

Sharp LC42XD1E 42in LCD TV

Sharp joins the 1080p party.

The main thing about the 42XD1E, though, is that its imperfections aren’t really that serious overall – and for the most part they’re also very common across the LCD world as a whole. The 42XD1E’s many strengths, however, are certainly not common. So...

Sharp Aquos LC-37XD1E

Given the price and sheer quality of both the TV's build and its picture, the 37XD1E is almost a cracker. But it is let down by the set's speaker system that cannot begin to match sound quality with picture quality.

Easy to use and set up, excellent picture quality, on screen 'hints' system

Built-in speakers are quite tinny and vibrate at higher volumes and when the base is turned up
