Sharp LC-52 XD 1 E

The LC-52 XD 1 E incorporates a receiver for DVB-T via a set-top antenna; This set makes a good impression with style and substance. Sharp uses the huge screen to perfection; The Sharp is indeed sharp - movement is especially crisp, unusually for LCD...

The remote control is a bit awkward, and the menu confuses even technophiles; Too cozy - VGA and YUV share the same input; Unnatural judder on Blu-ray films - 24p format is not accepted

Sharp has produced a tempting piece of kit, both in terms of technology and sheer size. The picture quality cannot be criticized. Negative points are scored only when considering other features, particularly the remote control.

Sharp LC-37 XD 1 E

Unusually for an LCD, this Sharp offers deep black; Full picture with no cropping - the LC-37 XD 1 E displays full HD pictures without overscan

The menu is confusing, with too many options and small writing; VGA and YUV have to share the same input; The video signal processing produces some distinct picture noise

1080P AND HD IS GREAT

POOR STANDARD PICTURE ON REGULAR TV

Sharp LC-46XD1E

The LC-46XD1E is one of the best-looking 1080p LCDs around

Decent audio quality ; Full HD capability ; Bright and vibrant pictures

Some colours can look over-dominant

Another big leap forward for Sharp comes with the LC-46XD1E's contrast ratio, which rises to a spectacular (by LCD standards) 2,000:1. This is only achieved with the help of a dynamic contrast system, where the light output of the TV's lamp is...

Sharp LC42XD1E

It looks completely different from previous Sharp efforts, with its sultry curves and designer flourishes

Looks great, Vastly improved black levels, Decent price

No component video input

Couple those stunning pictures the sleek looks, fine features and impressive audio accompaniment, you've got an LCD TV that's well worth £1,300 of anyone's money

Sharp LC-37XD1E

The elegant gloss black frame with silver trim and neatly-concealed under-screen speakers are attractive

Attractive, Full HD

Lifeless audio, Standard-def pics disappoint

Inconsistent standard-def pictures and sound quality do hamper the LC-37XD1E, but its hi-def performance is good enough to earn our recommendation

Sharp LC52XD1E 52in LCD TV

Has Sharp produced the big screen TV bargain of the year?

The 52XD1E is certainly a good TV, especially for the money, and will doubtless satisfy anyone who decides to buy one, at least while viewing HD sources. Yet we have to say that if it were our money, the extra picture quality and enhanced feature...

Sharp Aquos LC46XD1E review

A great TV that offers pretty good value for money -- its standard-definition performance makes watching Freeview much more pleasurable than on its big-screen rivals

Picture quality on standard- and high-definition material ; Styling

Sound quality ; Annoying video inputs

The LC46 is due to be replaced soon with a new generation of screens. This means this TVs might be discounted to clear stock, which will make it a very good buy indeed

Recommended!

Sharp LC42XD1E 42in LCD TV

Sharp joins the 1080p party.

The main thing about the 42XD1E, though, is that its imperfections aren’t really that serious overall – and for the most part they’re also very common across the LCD world as a whole. The 42XD1E’s many strengths, however, are certainly not common. So...

Sharp Aquos LC37XD1E review

The Sharp Aquos LC37XD1E is a solid performer -- Freeview and standard-definition aren't perfect but its high-definition performance is excellent

Styling ; High-definition picture quality

Freeview picture quality ; Non-standard component video connection

So if you aren't too bothered about 1080p and are likely to end up watching a lot of Freeview, you'll be better off saving a bit of cash and going for something like the Toshiba 32WLT68
