Sharp LC-46SB57UN LCD HDTV Review - Intro

The LC-46SB57UN is a mid-range LCD HDTV. Its performance results were a mixed bag, with an average contrast ratio, good color performance, and issues with blur and artifacting. The TV also features a 120Hz mode, but we didn't think it made a...

The Sharp LC-46SB57UN is a somewhat expensive 46-inch 1080p HDTV. It also doesn't have a whole lot ot back up the price. It did excel in some tests, such as color representation, but also failed to meet expectations in other tests, such as our motion...

Im satisfied to an extent with this LCD. read pros/cons

Lets start with the 120HZ, while its great for movies and HD channels, football and whatnot... the feature is actually horrible for fast input games. With the 120 Hz turned OFF performance is much better in Halo3 and other fast paced games. When the...

120HZ - Good for movies and other fast motion viewing (NOT GOOD FOR VIDEOGAMES) read cons ; Great color, darks, brightness, sharpness, and other features to reduce blurr and enhance contranst ; Many different connections ; Power saving

The 120HZ. tech. must be turned off to play certain games ; As the action looks blurr free, there is some lag to the input of games like halo. (read details) ; Problems with sound. (read details) ; The TV box says its an Aquos? Or is it a lie

Great value for price

Inexpensive model, bright picture, good built in speakers, nice features like pc input for streaming online hdtv

Picture could be crisper, not sure how to calibrate for better picture when connected to my dvd system, no screan saver option for gaming

Incredible deal!

-For $699, I don't think there's a better deal out there. It's a fairly large TV and great quality as well. If you're on the fence, I hope this review helps convince you that it's definitely worth taking the plunge for.

Great picture ; You can definitely see the 120hz at work ; Price! (Got it at $699) ; Plenty of inputs

Internal speakers (but honestly, if you buy a 46'' tv, you've got to big thinking about an external audio source)

Flickering

Going to try to return for new tv hopefully this one won't be messed up

What I saw between flickers looked great

Out of the package constant flickering and firmware wouldn't update ; It sounded like a bug zapper and the screen would flicker brighter

Awesome Video

I run Cable TV, Blu Ray & other sources thru a Yamaha RXV-3900. All digital and all analog sources are up res'ed to 1080P with the Yamaha AVR. This produces some of the best looking video cause the 3900 uses a very good ABT video chip. Also use Polk...

1080P is great (specific viewing distance recommended), Blu Ray, Cable TV, PC Games, great. Assignable PC audio HDMI or VGA. With 120 Hz option less blur than most 60 Hz models. It'll also do 60 Hz and 24 Hz if you want. Active contrast, video to film...

None, so far ; All LCD HDTV built in audio speakers and amps could be better, but we all know that, that's why I don't use the HDTV audio. Run an AVR HT set up

Excellent HDTV

I just upgraded the firmware on my set using a USB memory card. Drivers are available on sharpusa.com. Just extract the single file from the ZIP to the USB device and plug it in -- probably requires a FAT32 format to read though. My HDTV purchased from...

This is a very nice HDTV for OTA programming as well as connectivity to my HTPC. The sound is a bit weak as others have mentioned, but no crackling noise -- perhaps the speakers need to be broke-in before cranking the volume

For the price I paid (Black Friday special) I have no complaints

Very nice

As other reviewers have mentioned, when using a PC DVI to HDMI connection, reduce the overscanning on your video card settings to fix the image on the screen. Not that it's a big deal but I don't think an instruction manual was included in my box.

Big, great price during the sale, lots of inputs, relatively thin bezel, 120 Hz, built in speakers are pretty good (mine don't crackle), bright screen, very good viewing angle, colors look good ; Delivered super fast from Newegg. Shipped safely in 2...

Sometimes the automatic brightness feature acts a little strange. It doesn't have enough of a tolerance so it will oscillate between 2 levels. It is possible to shut off the notifications but sometimes it's noticeable that the level is changing anyway...

Nice Very Nice

I paid 7bills well worth the dough.. Would I pay 1k+ for this set? NO not worth the advertised price on Newegg

Viewing angels on this display are superb. I sit off to the side viewing this set and it doesn't take from the display at all. The piano black finish makes it look very nice. I love the matte finish on the screen itself for reducing glare from windows....

The power save feature is annoying as well as the dynamic contrast dimming and brightening the screen. Make sure you turn those features off. Speakers are weak but I didn't get any crackling noise like others have. The TV manual is crud its just a...
