Sony Bravia KDL-40BX420

By this time next year companies like Sony might not even sell TVs like the KDL-BX420 series. The CCFL (cold-cathode fluorescent) backlight that illuminates this TV's LCD panel is slowly going extinct, replaced especially in larger screen sizes by LEDs...

The inexpensive Sony KDL-BX420 series evinced good performance for an entry-level non-LED-TV, with deep-enough black levels and accurate color in mid-bright areas. It also, surprisingly for a 60Hz TV, handled 1080p/24 cadence properly, and its matte...

The BX420 only has two HDMI inputs when most of its competitors have three or four. Its color was too blue in dark areas and too red in bright areas and its screen showed brighter corners

If you don't expect the world from the entry-level Sony KDL-BX420 LCD, its picture quality may be a pleasant surprise.

Sony Bravia KDL-40BX420

Sony BX420 series information: Our review of the Bravia KDL-40BX420 from Sony is based off of our hands-on experiences with the 32-inch KDL-32BX420 set. What we observed applies to the 32-inch set as well as Sony's 46-inch KDL-46BX420. Sony says that...

Solid picture performance ; Light, easy to set up ; Customizable picture presets ; Decent sound

No Internet or network features ; Thicker bezel than some ; Less than perfect blacks

Sony sticks to its guns with the KDL-40BX420 by focusing on a superior picture, decent sound and a user-friendly interface in an attractive package.

Sony KDL-40BX420 Review – 40-inch LCD HDTV

There is not much to talk about this TV as it can only serve as a basic set for watching the normal TV programs. It neither has 3D nor the Internet TV, which are the most-sought features of this year. But since after buying a huge 3D set for your...

Sony provides 5 HD inputs in the TV which includes 2 HDMI. If you consider that this is only a basic TV which will only be a second set in the house, you may not need to connect too many high definition devices to it. However, if you want, you can...

Sony 40-inch BRAVIA BX420 Series LCD HDTV Reviewed

Home Theater Review managing editor Andrew Robinson got the Sony BRAVIA BX420 40-inch LCD HDTV in for review and discovered that to make this television affordable, Sony made many sacrifices....

The BX420 industrial design is clean and its build quality is better than a lot of its affordable competition ; The BX420 is easy to set up and even easier to live with, making itan ideal HDTV for a bedroom or den or for the consumer not wanting...

The BX420's lack of inputs, especially HDMI inputs is alarming and not enough in my opinion for today's modern consumer ; The BX420 cannot connect to the Internet nor playback 3D content, so those of you in the market for those features should...

It wasn't long ago that a 40 or 42-inch HDTV would cost you three grandor more; hell, that's what I paid three years ago when I bought mySamsung. Times are a-changing and prices have dropped dramaticallysince then and today's consumer is poised to reap...

Quality tv and easy to handle

I bought this tv for my bedroom and not my main tv so it's a really good addition and goes up on the wall very nicely. Sony provides good quality, an aesthetically pleasing tv, and always good sound. I would go with this model rather than the next one...

Large clear screen, not too taxing on the wallet, light to carry

Not the best resolution from sony but this isn't their top of the line model

"Disposable TV. Worthless after 13 months"

I wish I had known I was purchasing a disposable TV when I stepped up to the Sony brand. This set completely quit on me one month out of warranty (no power to the set) Cost for repair after owning it only 13 months over $400. I've lost faith in the...

good picture while it lasts

crisp pix and easy setup

"Great image (it's a Sony) easy setup, terrible sound."

If you plan to use external sound (Sorround, etc) al the time, then get this, if you rely on speakers, pass.

Connectivity to other Sony gadgets, image, size, design.

Only 2 HDMI, lousy speakers can't be adjusted, sounds like it is inside a bucket or a box all the time.
