Sony KDL-32V2000 HD Ready 32inch LCD

It looks very elegant, thanks to a cunning combination of matt black offset by spots of shiny metallic trim

Bravia Engine image processing, Elegant looks

Not cheap for a 32-inch TV, Only one HDMI port

At £1,300 the 32V2000 is hardly cheap for a 32in LCD TV. But if you want the best, sometimes you just have to pay for it, and this Sony justifies the fiscal outlay

Sony KDL- 46V2000

Sophisticated and chic yes, but it only has one HDMI input

Excellent colour, Brilliant frequency response

Single HDMI, Only two scarts, A Touch Pricey

The WCG system we mentioned is a radically redesigned, new backlight system that employs improved light-emitting phosphors to deliver, reckons Sony, 127 per cent more of the PAL EBU colour range than Sony's previous sets. Hopefully this will be...

How does Sony's latest LCD rate alongside equally impressive Philips and Panasonic sets?

Not the best for the price tag, but a more than competent TV that excels when fed a HD source. One of the best-sounding LCDs we've tested, too.

Sony Bravia KDL-32V2000 review

Sony's KDL-32V2000 may be priced at the premium end of the spectrum, but beneath an average looking specification lies some of the most advanced LCD technology. Coupled with a beautiful design, user-friendly functionality and superlative performance it...

Elegant design ; Flawless functionality ; Advanced picture processing ; Exceptional all-round performance

Average connectivity

It is hard to criticise any aspects of performance for the KDL-32V2000. Contrast edging could be sharpened, but the only flaws are too subtle to mention and are easily ignored given the exceptional performance elsewhere

Sony Bravia KDL-40V2000 review

We set about testing this first model from Sony's new Bravia range with bated breath, hoping against hope that the reams of new technology it boasts might finally lift Sony to somewhere near the top of the LCD pile. And we're chuffed to report that it...

Quality of sound and HD pictures ; Design ; Features ; Operating system

Not the cheapest LCD in town ; Only one HDMI input and two Scarts

In fact, whichever way you look at it, the 40V2000 is not only the finest big-screen LCD all-rounder we've seen to date, but also a scarily high benchmark for other pre-World Cup LCD wannabes to aim for

Sony KDL-32V2000

Product Specifications

Unprecedented color accuracy, wide angle viewing that really works and the power of the BRAVIA ENGINE - introducing the BRAVIA V-Series. The new BRAVIA V-Series is a breakthrough in the art of color reproduction. Exclusive Sony Live Color Creation technology opens up the spectrum of colors on the screen to breathtaking effect. Significant boosts in the range of red and green in the picture brings what you see closer to the true colors of nature than ever before. Key to broadening the spectrum of color the screen displays, or widening its 'color gamut', is the V-Series' specially redesigned backlight. The new Wide Color Gamut (WCG) CCFL (Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp) is an exclusive Sony design employing improved light-emitting phosphors originally developed for the Trinitron CRT. These actively extend the red and green spectrum components the backlight emits. Matched with precisely optimized RGB filters within the LCD itself, the WCG-CCFL completely transforms the characteristics of the screen. Live Color Creation also relies in part on the remarkable power of the BRAVIA ENGINE to enhance signals, even HDTV, before it actually appears on the screen. The intensive real-time frame-by-frame digital processing carried out by the BRAVIA ENGINE visibly enhances color and contrast and cleans up noise in the signal which could result in imperfections in the picture. The screen itself is equally special. Each panel is cut from the very latest 7th generation glass featuring S-PVA (Super Vertical Pattern Alignment) molecular control for a wider viewing angle and picture quality that doesn't fade away as you move to the side. S-PVA also delivers a huge contrast ratio of 1300: 1 - from dead black to pure white and everything in between. The result is detail, clarity and depth to do justice to the finest cinematography. The V-Series' audio capabilities match its visual quality perfectly. The all-digital amplification suppresses noise (hiss), and BBE Digital enhancement algorithms bring absolute clarity to dialog and ambient sounds alike. SRS TruSurround XT signal processing expands audio into enveloping virtual surround sound with no need for external speakers.
