Sony KDL-46 W 2000

The KDL-46 W 2000 comes with a DVB-T tuner; The remote control is well structured and sits well in the hand; Superb high-definition: The screen has the full 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution

Splotches are not pleasant: The backlight does not illuminate the screen evenly; Potential interface shortage: Just two Scart sockets and two HDMI interfaces are a little thin for a set of this caliber

Despite the strict separation, the set still has only one antenna interface for both tuners. Many European countries offer digital DVB-T Pay-TV and, to cater for them, Sony offers a built-in decoder interface for their cards in the form of a...

Sony continues to try and make up for lost time in the LCD stakes

Black levels, General picture performance, Features

Some motion problems, Only average audio

The most obviously noteworthy aspect of the Sony's picture performance is its way with blacks. Rendering the very lowest reaches of the darker end of the spectrum convincingly has thwarted many an LCD screen, but this Sony seems to have cracked this...

Sony Bravia KDL-40W2000 review

Sony's KDL-40W2000 has set a new benchmark for large screen displays. The full 1080p specification is equipped for the future while LCD image quality has never looked this good

Excellent build quality ; Timeless design ; Uncompromised connectivity ; 1080p compatibility ; Advanced image processing ; User-friendly features ; Class-leading performance

Fixed stand

Picture performance consistently impresses across all sources, including off-air broadcasts and standard-definition images. But with high-definition it scales new heights with exceptional sharpness and clarity that at times makes it seems as if you're...

Sony KDL40W2000 Review: 40" Bravia Full HD 1080p LCD TV

If you don't already know what BRAVIA is all about, then you have probably missed the whole point of Sony's bouncy balls and paint explosion adverts. With a slogan like "Colour like.no.other", the multi-award-winning BRAVIA is Sony's brand in marketing...

1080p capable display ; 1080p HDMI input ; Blacks above average with good shadow detail ; Excellent contrast ratio post calibration ; Minimal digital noise ; Bright images, sharp 1080 resolution and no reflections off screen ; Sharp 1:1 full pixel...

Clouding (in our review model) affected black level appreciation ; Slight motion blurring ; Inaccurate primary colours ; Grayscale controls in service menu not per input ; No grayscale controls in user menu ; No USB or multimedia memory readers ;...

Sony's strong performance in the 1080p LCD market is a testament to their conviction that LCD will become the dominant display technology. They have put all their eggs into one basket and it looks like its paying off. Judging from what we have seen, it...
