Sony KDL-46 Z 4500

Great movie picture with accurate 24p playback; Excellent motion clarity for video material; Built-in multi-tuner for analog TV as well as digital TV via cable (DVB-C) and over-the-air (DVB-T); also suitable for HDTV via cable; Ambient-light sensor for...

Picture quality depends strongly on viewing angle; Relatively weak contrast; Slight color casting; PlayStation-3-style menu takes some getting used to; Remote control is very large and therefore not very handy

The Sony KDL-46 Z 4500 emerges as an excellent TV, particularly in a bright living-room environment. Its high motion clarity, decent color reproduction, and comprehensive feature set make it a great all-round model. In a dark home-theater, on the other...

Sony Bravia KDL-40Z4500 review

Sony's 40Z4500 is a pricey but solid performer that's fairly run-of-the-mill

Nicely naturalistic pictures ; Solid all-round performance

Slightly high price ; Mildly unadventurous execution

Its 200Hz processing breaks new ground – but for a price

Stylish design ; 200Hz works ; Good picture quality generally

Picture a little underwhelming ; Rather expensive

Sony Bravia KDL40Z4500

The new technologies seem to be flying thick and fast in the TV space lately. First 100Hz and 24p, followed by LED backlights, and now Sony has brough...

Great 200Hz motion mode, excellent contrast and blacks, DLNA certified, good SD performance for a 1080p screen

Some annoying judder when not running Motion Flow, default Cinema setting may be too soft for some

Sony's Bravia KDL40Z4500 is a fantastic Full HD TV. It's Australia's first 200Hz television and it provides an excellent Motion Flow mode; the real faults we could find with it were a question of personal taste.

Costing a cool £600 more than the next set down in the range, we're expecting special things from this Z series. Show us what you can do, Sony...

The ’Z4500 represents the pinnacle of what Sony is capable of right now, so it should come as no surprise that it's simply stunning

Sony Bravia KDL-46Z4500 review

With the 200Hz system on hand to give things that little extra nudge upwards, the 46Z4500 probably produces the best picture quality we've seen from a Sony flatscreen TV. But that's not to say the TV completely blows the competition out of the water,...

Beautifully built ; Stunning picture quality ; What little the 200Hz technology offers

200Hz could be more impressive ; Steep price

Conclusion While upgrading to 200Hz works, it doesn't totally revolutionise TV picture quality in the same way LED backlighting does. This means that even though the 46Z4500 is without question a very fine TV, it's not quite fine enough to justify its...

Sony Bravia KDL-46Z4500 46in LCD TV

This Sony Bravia LCD TV features 200Hz processing but what's it like overall?

I don't mind saying that I really agonised over this one. Should it end up with a 9 or an 8? In the end, the quality of the 200Hz engine together with the other undeniable strengths of the picture just did enough to bring me down on the side of an...

The -Z4500 represents the pinnacle of what Sony is capable of right now, so it should come as no surprise that it's simply stunning

Builds on the already-impressive -W4500 to create the best picture of any 46in TV we have yet seen

The individual improvements aren't as dramatic as -600 might suggest

Sony KDL-40Z4500

This Sony delivers a fine flatscreen picture and excellent sound; arguably best in class

Super smooth with action scenes ; crisp, detailed image ; beefy sound for a flatscreen ; a delight to use

Some of Sony's sets are less, and almost as good

Sony Bravia KDL-46Z4500

The Sony Bravia KDL-46Z4500 is a very well-featured performer that almost outshines Sony's flagship product at half the price.

Best anti-judder mode yet ; Bright, detailed pictures ; Good black levels ; Media streaming via Ethernet and USB ; Excellent Blu-ray playback

Minor cosmetic issues ; Not as confident with DVD

Conclusion Despite some misgivings about the cosmetics and dubious marketing, this is a very likeable television. It performs well, it's relatively good value for money, and is loaded with features — including the supremely efficient 200Hz mode. If...
