Sony Bravia KDL52Z5500 LCD television

Sony's second-generation 200Hz LCD television offers a smooth and vibrant picture

Good motion smoothing, minimal design

No LED technology, expensive

We'd go so far as to say that the Sony Bravia KDL52Z5500 is the current pinnacle of (non-LED) LCD television technology. Good, natural-looking motion smoothing and a vibrant colour palette make for a television that's very enjoyable to watch.

Sony Bravia KDL-46Z5500 review

Sony's LCD TV ekes the best out of older backlighting technology in the face of LED competition

Wonderfully detailed pictures ; Bright, crisp colours

Black levels are a tad light ; Poor off-axis viewing

Performance is what makes this TV a winner, all the additional features are useful bonuses

Sony Bravia KDL-46Z5500 46in LCD TV

The Sony KDL-46Z5500 has design flare, excellent 200Hz processing and fine HD pictures, so is there anything not to like?

Sony Bravia KDL52Z5500 review

It's the successor to the Sony Bravia KDL52Z5500, with a new video processor and improved multimedia playback. The TV gives you a lot of control over motion control and picture quality, and its media streaming and minimalist design make it a great...

The Sony Bravia KDL52Z5500 is a good all-round LCD television. Its CCFL backlight means it may not be as technologically advanced as Samsung’s LED TV models, but the implementation of MotionFlow 200Hz and its vibrant image quality make the package just...

Sony KDL-40Z5500

We're really fed-up with saying this, but here's yet another Sony with a superb performance that's ruined by uneven backlighting

Impeccable motion processing; punchy, detailed pictures with subtle, neutral colours; good sound; compact, stylishly-understated design

Blotchy backlight

Sony Bravia KDL46Z5500

Boasting improved design and an upgraded picture engine, the Sony Bravia KDL46Z5500 is perfect for watching the World Cup on. Which Cup is up to you.

Excellent black levels ; Detailed images ; 200Hz is suited to sport ; DLNA streaming onboard

DVD replay could be better ; 200Hz is poor with non-broadcast sources

There is little doubt that Sony currently makes the best 200Hz system out there, but there is still a ways to go. It's not great for movies, but for sport it's perfect. And when seen in conjunction with all of the other features on this TV, it turns...

Sony Z5500

Picture quality after calibration; 200 Hz smooth pictures; Black reproduction; ; No/minor clouding

Viewing angles; 200 Hz not big improvement over 100 Hz; Analogue signals; Shadow detail not perfect

Our TV signal is DVB-S (satellite) from Canal Digital and DVB-T (terrestrial). We also have an analogue TV connection.
