Sony KD-55A1 review

Sony's first attempt at OLED is a stunning all-rounder

Stunning picture performance ; Clever and unique design ; Really decent TV sound ; Wide viewing angles

Android TV is sluggish and uninspiring ; Design requires a wide TV rack to support it

Sony's 4K OLED debut is a stunning set with a truly outstanding picture and gorgeous design

Sony KD-55A1 review

Sony's first 4K OLED should have even LG worried...

Beautiful, classy and unique design ; Good sound from its clever, invisible speaker system ; Deep, insightful blacks ; Spot-on skin tones and vibrant colours ; Brilliantly solid, three-dimensional images

No Dolby Vision (although it is coming via an update at some point) ; Interface isn’t as slick as that of some rivals ; LG’s OLEDs do a better job with standard-def

All of the inherent qualities of OLED combined with the picture processing smarts of Sony equals an utterly stunning television
