Sony KD-65X9005B Review: A High End, Highly Anticipated 4K TV

The Sony KD-65X9005B starts off the manufacturer's second generation of 4K TVs by offering a huge list of features and exquisite image quality at a fairly reasonable price as far as 4K HD TVs go. Measuring in at 65 diagonal screen inches and partially...

Some seriously awesome and highly advanced speakers ; 3840 x 2160 Ultra HD resolution ; Beautiful and very subtle color rendering thanks to the Triluminous Display ; Comes with Smart TV ; Access to the Sony Entertainment Network ; Comprehensive...

Too expensive for what it offers ; 4K and Triluminous display fails with regular DVD ; Too bulky, thick and heavy ; Motion rendering is lacking ; Needs improvements on DVD resolution

The KD-65 is one hell of a fine purchase as far as 4K TVs go. However, in terms of overall value per dollar spent, you’re probably better off going for something like the Samsung UN65F9000, which offers better motion rendering, slightly better...

Sony KD-65X9005B review

Whatever angle you take, Sony's KD-65X9005B is a formidable 4K proposition. With its mould-breaking design, pixel-pushing picture processing and audiophile pretensions, it sees Sony's TV division at its most confident in years.

Superb image definition; deep blacks and great dynamic range; excellent audio performance; dramatic design; One-flick Discovery bar user interface

Active Shutter 3D at its best only in a dark room; not a full compliment of catch-up

The wedge-shaped Sony KD-65X9005B category-defining Ultra HD Smart TV

Bold wedge design ; Superb image performance ; Stereo magnetic fluid speakers

Limited catch-up TV services ; Distracting Twitter app ; It's huge!

Sony KD-65X9005B review

Sony's sensational wedge TV delivers top 4K results

Sensational image quality ; Best in class audio performance ; Discovery bar content guide ; Distinctive wedge design

Flickery Active Shutter 3D ; Lacks key catch-up services ; Distracting social view function ; It's huge

Ratings in depth Sony's 65-inch KD-65X9005B (£3600) is a statement television in every sense.

Sony KD-65X9005B 65-inch 4K TV review - Pocket-lint

Stunning colours with true blacks, brilliant 4K upscaling, fantastic sound, beautiful wedge design, genuinely intelligent smart features, really easy to use

Speaker design might not suit all, new onscreen Social View Twitter app is somewhat antisocial, 3D isn't perfect - but who wants that anyway?

If you're thinking about upgrading your TV and taking the 4K plunge then you'd be hard pressed to find anything nearly as good as the Sony X9005B.

Sony KD-65X9005A review

I've heard a startling amount of rubbish spouted about 4K/Ultra HD TVs in recent months. ‘Nobody cares about more pixels'. ‘The human eye can't perceive the difference between normal HD and 4K resolutions'. ‘Forget UHD – what we need is OLED.' ‘4K is...

Unbelievable Ultra HD pictures; supreme design and build; effective upscaling; astonishing sound quality

Black levels could be a touch better; there are sleeker Smart interfaces around; integrated speakers make the set bigger than you might imagine

Sony KD-65X9005A review

This Sony 65-inch flatscreen is the first 4K Ultra HD TV that genuinely has an eye on your living space.

Awesome 4K picture quality ; Highly effective upscaling ; Best in class 3D ; Drop dead gorgeous design ; Superb audio system ; Solid Smart TV

Expensive ; Cheapo remote control ; Single tuner

The Sony KD-65X9005A is more than just another svelte Internet-enabled TV. Along with the lookalike 55-inch KD-55X9005A, this 65-inch flatscreen is the first 4K Ultra HD format TV that genuinely has an eye on your living space.

More style than substance for this super-slim Sony TV...

It’s really thin ; Crisp picture ; Good colours

Patchy, bleeding backlight ; Needs better contrast

Sony 65X9005C

Hands-on: Sony's new TV takes ultra-slim to a new level

Sadly we weren’t able to watch any darker content on the 65X9005Cs or hear any audio from them – two areas where the set’s exceptional slimness could potentially cause headaches. If the 65X9005C turns out to be decent in these two key areas, though,...
