Sony KDL-55EX723 review

How does Sony do it? This flagship TV in the brand's EX Series is one of the most impressive we're ever seen. The way the 55EX723 upscales all sources to fit its massive 55-inch panel is clever stuff; it cleans and polishes all kinds of web-based video...

Colour, detail, 2D Blu-ray, online services, Freeview EPG

Uncomfortable 3D, poor audio

2D picture is brilliant, but 3D is a letdown. We like the online content on Sony TVs too, but it's worth remembering you can access this on cheaper Blu-ray players too, if you're desperate to use it.

Sony KDL-55EX723 review

App-packed 55-inch Edge LED is hugely impressive with 2D

Slim depth ; Freeview software ; Online VOD & apps ; 2D Blu-ray detail ; All-round 2D versatility

Ghosting on 3D ; Too few USB slots for accessories ; Poor audio ; 3D glasses optional add-on ; Wired LAN only

Expensive, but worth it for 2D performance, the KDL-55EX723 is nevertheless not the all-rounder we'd hoped for. An engaging online dimension, some awesome 2D Blu-ray and notable upscaling aside, the picture performance is blighted by some troubling 3D...

Sony KDL-32EX723 review

Crisp pictures and neat tricks from this mid-range smart TV

Nice 2D picture performer ; Good contrast and clarity ; Multimedia features are superb ; Operating system improved ; Attractive

Poor 3D performance ; Excessive crosstalk ; A bit expensive ; 3D glasses not included ; Internet browser hard to use from a distance

As a 2D TV, there's much to like about the 32EX723. The new X-Reality processor does a good job of making both HD and standard definition pictures look sharp and detailed, while the Motionflow system stops motion suffering badly with blurring or...

Sony KDL-40EX723

This is a nice-looking TV distinguished from its rivals by some excellent online features and good 2D picture quality. But its wheels come off spectacularly with 3D.

Good 2D pictures ; Excellent online video services ; Good connectivity

Terrible 3D pictures ; Convoluted onscreen menus ; Slight lack of brightness

Calling up the onscreen menus via the lightweight but effectively laid out remote control reveals a menu system similar to that seen recently on Sharp’s 46LE831E, whereby the picture is reduced to make room for menu ‘bars’ to appear across the bottom...

Sony Bravia KDL-32EX723

Sony's first 'proper' 2011 TV is appealing enough as a 2D TV, but its 3D is a huge disappointment.

Good online features ; Likable 2D picture quality ; Improved operating system

3D pictures are seriously flawed ; Flawed Internet browser ; No 3D glasses included

If you’re still reading this review, then we guess you’re either enjoying the writing (in which case, cheers!) or, more likely, you came to this review more interested in the 32EX723 as a 2D Sony TV. In which case you’re doubtless impatient to leave...

Doesn't display JPEGs attached with USB device.

For photo studio display needs, this monitor didn't work. It was unable to read JPEG files even though the thumbnails showed. My previous Samsung showed images simply by plugging in a card reader or thumb drive- nothing to it! I never bothered to see...

Sleek, light, thin. Holds detail in both highlights and shadows

The Sony KDL-46EX723 can't read my JPEG files through USB connected thumb drive or card reader. I have to attach my laptop to display images. We called Sony, followed their advice including reformatting all CF cards, to no avail
