Sony Bravia KDL-40NX803 review

Like one of Kubrick's apemen, we are in awe of Sony's leaning LCD monolith – but could it be too stylish?

Smart design ; Superb remote and user interface ; Deep blacks and crisp colours ; Useful online content

Bravia widgets are glitchy and slow ; Soft focus GUI ; Puny speakers

Nice design features and undeniable style make this set very appealing, but it's not quite the best LCD TV on the block

This 40in LCD TV is one of the best edge LED picture performers we've seen yet - find out why.

It’s impossible to ignore the fact that Panasonic's P42V20 plasma TV can be bought for £100 or so less than its Sony rival, despite being 2in bigger, allowing you to record to USB HDD and producing some terrific plasma picture quality.

Best thing is the picture quality and ease of watching youtube with out any hassle of getting on to the laptop

I font like that when you go on BBC Iplayer i you get of it in a hurry like you press channel 1 by accident then it will say error and wont let you go on after like an hour or if you turn it off for like 10 minutes

Design style & picture quality

Sound volume is not as good as older Sony models ; The biggest problem is the delay in the TV receiving commands from the remote after start-up ; there is a delay until the TV has been on for 20 seconds or so

Great looking machine with superb picture quality ; I wanted a thin LED TV but one with an acceptable sound quality so I didn't always have to switch on the home cinema system. As the TV has a thicker lower part, it can accommodate reasonably sized...

A bit expensive for the 200 Mhz version but worth it ; A bit tedious 'typing' in the characters for downloading YouTube files..why can't it be intuitive as are all mobile phones for texting

Crackles for about ah hour when first switched on & for about half an hour when switched off. Sony replaced my TV with a new one because of this but the replacement does it too. Suspect the fault is materials used for the casing are insufficient to...

Very good picture

Remotes are overly complicated (look at B&O). From DVD to TV okay but going back the TV freezes, have to open draw and close again to continue playing. Cant get one remote to work both items
