Sony Bravia KDL-42EX440

Buying a budget HDTV no longer means having to settle for skewed colors and subpar image quality, but you will still have to make some sacrifices. With the Sony Bravia KDL-42EX440 ($549.99 direct) you get solid color quality and a sharp 1080p picture...

Affordable. Accurate colors. Wide viewing angles

Low contrast ratio. Mediocre black levels. Limited feature set

The Sony Bravia KDL-42EX440 is a 42-inch edge-lit LED HDTV offering good color quality and wide viewing angles. It doesn't get very bright or very dark, and lacks some of the features that come standard on many HDTVs, but its low price is appealing.

Sony Refurb

I feel like I won the lottery. I bought a refurb 42" Sony and had the usual apprehension when one does that. However, it showed up in the original box in perfect shape. It's working perfectly in my neighbor's house. During the purchase process, I had...

Excellent DVD Burner - bought in 2005 Aug

Would have loved extra cache, except for Plextor no one offers it. Still at this point of time in 2013, we get the same amount of memory.

Still using it, it's 2013 ; I've place it in an external enclosure and use it via USB. After all these years it works like a 'champ'. NEC is the best

Solid Performer

We use this TV in the bedrooom, where 42" is the absolute maximum size that fits our wall unit. The TV provides that great Sony picture, and overall quality. Unfortunately, Sony has removed most of the connections that it has traditionally offered,...

Bare-bones Powerhouse!

This is a last gen bare bones LED tv. It doesn't have wi-fi and it doesn't have bundled apps, which is exactly what I want. I have a PS3 and PC hooked up to the Bravia...I don't need or want bundled software. If you are looking for a SONY quality,...

Gorgeous LED screen ; Lots of Customization ; Decent Speakers ; NO bloatware or Apps ; Viewing Angles ; 60hz or 120hz

Only 2 HDMI ports ; NO DVI port ; Base/Stand is stationary, it doesn't rotate or pan

Excellant T.V.!

I couldn't be happier with this Sony t.v. The picture quality is excellant. The black level is outstanding. And the color is spot on. The details are very clear, even in dark scenes. Sony's Motionflow XR 120 does a great job at reducing motion blur....

Clear, Bright, Life-like picture, good sound quality

Nice Set

At first I was a little bummed on the picture quality. But I realized that I needed to change my cable box out to a HD cable box. So keep that in mind if like me, this is your first HDTV. Once I installed the HD box the picture was crisp and clear!!!

All as expected. I was concerned when I realized they were shipping through UPS. But the packaging held up and all is well. The set works great and no issues so far

The only thing I have found to be a little disappointing is the sound. BUT.... I also have hearing issues so that might be the real issue. I need a robust sound to hear everything well and I can fix this with a sound system

Gorgeous Picture!!

For the money this is an excellent TV. We love the brilliant colours and the perfect sharp picture. We've watched SD Television and its better than on the tube (yes we migrated at last). We watched Blu Ray movies and HD movies and they are amazing on...

Beautiful HD Picture. Bright beautiful colours. Light and thin. Simple to use

Dark scenes show a bit grainy
