Sony KDL-55HX823 3DTV

This isn't Sony's most expensive screen, that dubious honour goes to its KDL-55HX923. But don't bother with that because the HX823 series' luscious 3D, sparkling 2D and a web video hub that's genuinely engaging will blow your socks off.

Sharpness, blur-free, 3D, online video choices, upscaling, user interface, Freeview HD

High price, lacks MKV playback, black levels not convincing

Sony’s latest is for perfectionists who want a super-slim 3D screen. Slightly better pictures can be got for less if you head for a top-end (and slightly plumper) plasma. But there’s a lot here to get excited about, including superb upscaling of dodgy...

This slim 3D LED TV is an awesome all-rounder

27mm thinness ; BBC iPlayer ; YouTube upscaling ; Smooth, no blur ; Clean and comfortable 3D

High price ; Black levels ; Crowded user interface

High up in Sony's "Cinematic" HX Series and just 27mm deep, this Edge LED-backlit LCD TV is a high-end choice indeed.

Elegant design and fantastic motion handling, but 3D images lack  punch

Elegant design ; fantastic motion handling ; Freeview HD picture ; Smart functionality

3D glasses cost extra ; detail in blacks can be bettered ; 3D images lack punch

Features and motion-handling to die for. Good, but not necessarily great image quality

It's looks good, light weight and easy to fit in on wall

It's broken after 1 and half year. Warranty is only for a year. Repair cost s £900! Can't believe it. I always thought that Sony s one of the best quality products. Well not any more. How could it be possible? £900 to fix a quality now television

Good overall design. Looks very pleasant to the eye. Has a plethora of adjustments, tweaks you can make with the added bonus of being able to connect to SEN (Sony Entertainment Network) which is an added bonus, although saying that it tends to load a...

Sound quality leaves a lot to be desired. Sounds quite 'tinny' with little bass response. However, I have a separate sound system hooked up which compensates for this ; Additionally I had a Sony KDL-40X2000 which had the facility to display the time in...

As a fan and user of Sony products for almost 30 years, this TV is another masterpiece in the Bravia lineup - a true flagship product. I do not agree with some reviews lamenting the somewhat 'dark' picture. The reason for this is that the Sony TV is...

Compared to the smaller 38 inch model in our bedroom (also the same monolithic style) this TV is slightly more flimsy, putting it up on the wall some of the back panels started to bend and flex. The user interface is slightly more complicated than it...
