The telly that'll give you full HD on a budget
Cinematic HD picture; HDMI side input; Muffles adverts
Colour banding; Lacks fine detail
Good value from Toshiba, whose concentration on creating a cinematic experience is at the cost of fine detail

It'll sit pretty on your wall...
Colour; HDMI on side panel; Gorgeous onscreen menus
High price; Dodgy Freeview
Fabulous colour and smooth hi-def pictures make this a great option for games and Blu-ray, but Freeview is shabbily treated

Rounding up the best living room centre-pieces money can buy
Just to clarify my original post, it's the Hitachi UT32MH70 that Richer sounds were offering, it's 32" and only has one hdmi socket and no tuner. Not much use for anything other than a monitor

A tantalising glimpse into the future of TV
Amazing contrast ratio; Incredibly thin
High price; Small screen size; Tinny speakers
Until Sony (or whichever manufacturer) finds a way of producing panels big enough to fit on your living room wall that won't break the bank, we're content, for now just to admire the XEL-1 from afar.

Snaffle HD for under a grand
Excellent value for money; Good black levels; Motion is usually smooth
Some judder, artefacts and noise visible in HD pictures
A budget 50-incher that doesn't really look or feel like a budget 50-incher. Solid performance, features and design.
