TCL 50FS3800

The TCL FS3800 Roku TV series is an affordable line of connected HDTVs with solid performance.

Inexpensive. Roku TV features. Good shadow detail.

Colors appear slightly undersaturated. Awkward port placement.

Once again, TCL and Roku have combined to offer a functional and very affordable HDTV. The FS3800 series won't offer the deepest blacks or the most vibrant colors, but with the full selection of online services and apps through the Roku Channel Store,...

TCL 50FS3800 Roku TV, 2015

That's why, if you don't have a Roku TV, we recommend hooking up a streaming device -- like, you know, a Roku -- and ignoring the TV's built-in apps altogether. And that's perfectly fine for your main living-room TV, which probably has a device or ten...

Roku TV delivers the simplest, most comprehensive smart-TV experience on the market. A superb user interface puts its thousands of apps and streaming video on the same plane as regular TV. It's also less expensive than just about any other smart TV.

Competing entry-level TVs, namely Vizio's E series, deliver better image quality for a similar price. Sparse picture controls and no Ethernet port.

Despite its "good enough" picture quality, the TCL Roku TV is one of our favorite entry-level sets, thanks to an awesome smart-TV suite and rock-bottom pricing.

TCL 50FS3800 Review

There are a handful of other TVs in our lineup that tested better for image quality, but not many have an interface that is as convenient and simple to use as the Roku interface. At 120Hz, this TV does refresh faster than many of the budget TVs in our...

The Roku smart interface is easy to navigate and convenient to use.

There are a handful of other TVs in our lineup with better picture quality.

A 50-inch TV for under $400 with a Roku interface, the TCL 50FS3800 is worth serious consideration.

Good but expecting more on Roku

Pretty decent tv, I can't complain for the price, but I was expecting more from Roku, I thought that would be a big bonus to this pretty decent smart tv. but Roku is not the big thing in my opinion. Still recommend this to anyone.

Great features, bargain price

Easy to set up and operate. Picture is excellent. Only thing I would improve is it takes you back to the main Roku screen when you power up instead off just going to your last input source. B
