With its average picture quality and uneventful sound it's hard to get too excited about the XV42 AT
Good price ; Sound quality ; Detail from still images
Judder ; Ghosting ; Solarisation ; Poor black response
There is some picture noise in backgrounds, though, especially during gloomy scenes when this set's average contrast ratio statistics come into play. Or, rather, don't. Blacks seem greyed-over and details tend to merge into nothing in the shadows

Widescreen is dead; long live Cinema 21:9. The Philips 56PFL9954H is a daring experiment in screen dimensions, designed to maximise the cinematic potential of hi-def discs while rewriting the rules on home entertainment.
Superb all-round performance; Endless features;Unique design
High price;Occasional black issues
Whether the 21:9 concept ultimately catches on or never develops into anything beyond a diverting curio remains to be seen, but for the time being this remarkable screen can consider its trail well and truly blazed.

It doesn't take long to discover that this TV's pictures are among the finest that the LCD world has to offer
Awesome audio ; Great standard and hi-def pictures ; Excellent black levels ; Impressive feature set
Few picture advantages over earlier incarnations
Other common ground includes a dedicated 24p mode for less judder; 100Hz processing to reduce LCD's traditional motion blurring problems; an SD card slot for viewing digital photos onscreen; and picture noise reduction and colour management routines

The PD370's pictures don't look as garishly bright as those of most LCD TVs
Stunningly detailed pictures ; Attractively styled ; High-quality build
Lacklustre black levels ; Some motion smearing
At first you don't really appreciate this, since the PD370's pictures don't look as garishly bright as those of most LCD TVs. But the longer you live with the screen, the more you realise that the PD370's colours are actually spot on

This Sony LCD's Full HD resolution will tempt gamers and Blu-rayers alike
Sharpness ; Simple onscreen menus ; Vibrant colours ; Superb sound quality
Freeview picture quality ; Some judder ; Steep price
Called XrossMediaBar, its onscreen menus are intuitive and take mere minutes to master

The 42XV505DB comfortably sidesteps most of the killer flaws exhibited by some of its predecessors
Stunning, space-saving design ; Good black levels ; Rich colours
Occasional SD issues ; Poor viewing angle ; Doesn’t excel in any area
It hasnt changed significantly for so many years now, and is really looking dated compared with the eye-catching interfaces now sported elsewhere. It doesnt help, either, that the menus feel cumbersome to navigate at times

High-def gaming looks visuall stunning on LG's behemoth LCD TV
Excellent Full HD pictures with decent depth ; Good connectivity ; Great stereo audio performance
Blacks could be deeper
Naturally, CGI-animation is a good fit for Full HD, and I'm yet to meet somebody who hasn't been wowed by a computer-rendered cartoon played at 1080p through any set

The LG 22LS4D impressed us with its decent handling of both standard and high definition material
Attractive styling ; Good picture performance ; User-friendly
Poor audio ; Some motion blur
The picture itself is reasonably solid, without being spectacular, with a decent palette and a good amount of detail adding up to a pretty enjoyable watch

This Sony LCD's design is not going to be to everyone's taste
Strong picture performance ; Great quality audio ; Some good features
Pricier than many rivals ; Freeview pictures flawed in places
Blu-rays are also more than adequate, benefiting from the 23in TV's marvellously clear and stable picture. Audio, meanwhile, is excellent, with those low-slung speakers making an impressive noise

You'll be surprised by how much Goodmans has managed to cram into this modestly-sized LCD
Decent pictures ; Integrated DVD player ; Impressive feature set ; Well-connected
Pictures may not be up to scratch for some
With that and the integrated player in mind, the Goodmans hits its mark nicely
