The HD-65DS8 looks as slim as a 65in rear-pro set ever could
Affordable for its size ; Stylish looks ; Good quality images
A few visual artefacts and HD dot crawl ; Can't handle 1080p24 images ; Deep compared to flat screen LCDs
Today's rear-pro TVs are an interesting high-performance alternative to flatpanels, and this set certainly wins design points. It looks as slim as a 65in rear-pro set ever could, with a tiny 1cm wide bezel and surprisingly shallow 29.5cm depth

An attractive, if not original design from Panasonic
Good connectivity ; Great Freeview pictures ; Full HD
Disappointing black levels ; Hi-def pictures lacking in detail
This TV doesn't have 100Hz, which combats LCD's common problems with handling motion. For that you'll have to look higher up the manufacturer's new range

The design of this LCD gives it the look of something slightly classier than is suggested by its price tag
Decent price ; Clear screen ; Comes with built-in DVB-T
Slow responses from the program guide
There is a brace of Scarts, but these days that's hardly likely to leave anyone breathless with excitement and there are separate RF jacks (and a loopthrough) for analogue and digital signals that, bizarrely, are located on opposite sides of the rear ...

A chunky and cheap Bravia, whatever next?
Strong colours ; Great pictures ; Attractive price
Quite chunky ; Not as easy to use as some other sets
The fact that it's only £380 is the icing on a generally impressive cake

Great pictures from any source ; Strong audio ; User-friendly ; Fair price
Add to that audio that destroys the rest of the field and you have a clear winner

A stylish set with a lot to shout about
Great with HD ; Strong picture quality ; Impressive connectivity ; Stylish design
Poor Freeview pictures
The big stumbling block is Freeview, which looks pretty atrocious, with conspicuous ghosting and motion blurring, and does some serious damage to its credentials as an everyday, family TV

The 32AD5E impresses with its crisp HD performance
Looks great ; Competitive price ; Quality pictures - whether Hi or standard def
Poorly designed EPG ; Restrictive viewing angle
The 32AD5E's viewing angle is severely limited. If you watch from even as little as 30° off-axis - something various family members will have to do at regular intervals in most households - the image loses bags of contrast and colour saturation. And ...

The 37PFL5522D sports 'merely' an HD Ready native resolution rather than a full HD one
It--'s cheap ; Sharp HD pictures ; Good black levels
Colour tone issues ; Motion blur ; Has a tendency to exaggerate source noise
It's back to averageness with the Philips 37PFL5522D's audio, though, which features a very overcrowded mid-range that's over-run by a far-too-dominant, distorted bass element

The pictures on the Samsung LE46A656A1F are nothing short of staggering
Superb design ; Well built ; Stunning pictures
Disappointing audio ; No ethernet connectivity
In short, the brand has once again set the aesthetic standard for its rivals to follow
