Toshiba TVs are not reliable.

I purchased a Toshiba HDTV and had it fail just after the 2 year warranty expired. Toshiba explained there was nothing they would do back up their product. No TV should fail after 2 years. I recommend selecting another brand, you can get the same...

Toshiba 36HF73 features 36" HD Compatible FST PURE flat tube that eliminates unwanted reflections from room light compared to conventional tubes designs and increases viewing angle. Invar Shadow Mask enhances color reproduction thanks to its nickel-alloy construction, making it more heat resistant than conventional iron masks. CrystalScan HDSC upconverts all video signals (including 480i/p) to 1080i HD. This results in a significant reduction in jagged-line artifacts which produces a smoother, more natural image. Selectable 540p, for users who want to display a progressive scan image from a progressive scan source, is available via the on-screen menu. Auto 16:9 Mode (1080i Vertical Compression) allows the consumer to display a 16:9 HD source (full 1080i) on their 4:3 HD Compatible television. This mode will create black bars at the top and bottom of the screen. 3D Y/C Digital Comb Filter with Vertical Contour Correction provides more accurate processing of RF and composite video signals for a sharper, cleaner picture This advanced Comb Filter significantly reduces detail noise, seen as shimmering or flicker, in complex or intricately detailed scenes.
