Toshiba 40E220U review

 

Back in 2008, Toshiba took a beating when its HD DVD format lost the format wars against Blu-ray. Four years later, the enforced focus on LCD has resulted in solid budget TVs like the Toshiba 32C120U and now the Toshiba 40E220U.

The Toshiba 40E220U features crisp images with a decent amount of contrast. The TV offers a good value and is one of the better units under $500. Colors are well-saturated.

The TV shows uniformity problems and some of the colors are inaccurate. Shadow detail is lacking compared with the cheaper TCL P60.

The Toshiba 40E220U is a value-for-money television offering decent contrast and bright, vivid colors.

A 40-inch no-frills display that only does one thing. For an MSRP of $499, that's not unreasonable.

Great newegg pricing! Looking for basic 40 inch TV to replace old 27 inch model and this fit the bill.

Good TV

 

Invest in a good sound system, as with any flat-panel tv.

Great picture, couldn't beat price for 40" 1080p ($388). Has all the inputs/outputs that I needed.

sound is a little tinny on the standard speakers.

Not disappointed with my purchase.

Decent TV for the price.

Only 2 HDMI ports. About once an hour, sometimes more, with comcast, the sound cuts out for about 3 seconds. I'm not sure where the problem is, but it never happened before with the same box, same cable on my old TV. Hard to get the right setting for...

Other than the cable issue it is an ok unit

Nice little basic HD tv...cheap price...all around not bad

OK...You shell out about $400 after all is said and done.Open the box.Start setting up and then...BOOM...where is the HDMI cable ?Ask the kids what they did with it...wife,Where is the cable..did you see it ? You have to go out and BUY a cable..it DOES...
