Toshiba 40" RL953 Smart LED TV

The Toshiba 40RL953B offers decent, but not spectacular, value for money. You get a lot of screen inches for a relatively low price, it's stylishly designed and its HD performance is pretty good.

Full 1080p HD screen, improving image quality on non HD channels ; Wireless connectivity meaning you can stream music, audio and images from computer to the TV ; Mutiple functions to improve image quality

Fantastic picture enjoy all the be channels via freeview. Sound is tinny but if like me playing sound through home cinema this is irrelevant. Overall great buy and good value for money

Great tv for the money. remember to buy the wi Fi separately ; The toshiba helpline was brilliant

Wi Fi dongle not included

good picture and i player good once connected

A bit of a surprise re needing a dongle for receiving i player etc not made very clear in details ; The handbook is a bit brief

Good screen with dark blacks and good colour representation ; Lots of inputs

Slow to start (around 10 seconds)

Pretty easy to set up, easy to use remote control, looks pretty smart both externally & in terms of 'Toshiba Places'. Easily connected my DVD player & Wii to it

This is probably similar for all Smart TVs, but the length of time it takes to both turn on, and navigating the TV guide is taking a fair amount of adjustment ; Also, very limited access to Smart TV channels. You pretty much just get Youtube and BBC...

Good picture, narrow frame. Quite easy to set up

Remote control is "different" from ones I was used to. It has "lots" of buttons. Similarly, the channel guide takes a bit of getting used to. I haven't yet tried some of the features, such as recording to an external hard drive

It's a mid range smart TV with full HD and Freeview HD decoder. The picture quality is about right for the money and the on-screen menues are straight forward

The fact that you have to buy a toshiba wifi dongle, which is not included as standard is infuriating. The dongle costs £30 (minimum) so factor that in when comparing prices, as most smart tv's have the wifi unit built in. You cannot use a cheap (£3-4)...

It's nice looking

The screen had white pixels on it ; The Samsung version is soooo ; Much better in every way
