Toshiba 40WL753

It may not be 3D compatible, but this set still packs in quite a lot of features

Resolution+ standard-def upscaling; Artefact-free SD and HD pictures; Plenty of connections; Easy-to-use remote and interface; Motion processing is subtle yet effective

Mediocre contrast levels; Audio lacks warmth; Square-edged design; YouTube function is frustrating to use; Supplied manual is far too perfunctory

And although the tinted glass bezel is easy on the eye, it is more than two inches across, which will seem chunky to anyone who prefers looking at the screen, rather than the frame around it

Toshiba Regza 40WL753

If you're a casual TV user after an affordable but decently featured 40in LCD TV, the 40WL753 is just about worth considering.

If you’re a reasonably casual TV user after an affordable but decently featured 40in TV to mostly just watch normal TV programming on, the 40WL753 is just about worth considering - especially given the cleverness of its Resolution+ system at upscaling...

Toshiba Regza WL (40WL753B) review

The 40-inch, 1080p Toshiba Regza 40WL753B puts in a decent performance for an LED-backlit TV at such a competitive price. Alas, its Internet features are whack.

Toshiba Regza 40WL753 review

The Toshiba Regza 40WL753 is not a cheap TV. In fact only the Philips 40PFL7605H costs more. But whereas the Philips is the best looking TV on test, the 40WL753 is more aesthetically challenged. Toshiba’s Deep Lagoon bezel simply doesn’t do it for us.

There’s a lot to like about the Toshiba 40WL753, but with a street price of around £880 it’s just too expensive. For £70 more you can get the stunning Philips 40PFL7605H and for £80 less you could have the superb Panasonic TX-P42G20B â€" you do...
