Toshiba SL417U

Albeit one of the least expensive Internet-capable LED TVs available, the Toshiba SL417U lags behind most of its competitors in terms of performance.

The Toshiba SL417U evinced relatively deep black levels in dark scenes and very good video processing. Its matte screen works well in bright rooms. Its Internet suite includes built-in Wi-Fi

The SL471U's backlight fluctuated more than usual, causing black levels to vary depending on scene content. Colors were less accurate and lacked saturation. Its screen is brighter on the edges and the picture loses fidelity from off-angle worse than...

Toshiba 42SL417U

Toshiba SL417U series information: The review of the 42-inch Toshiba 42SL417U LED TV is based on our experiences with the 46-inch 46SL417U set. Also, the observations made apply to the 55-inch 55SL417U. Toshiba says that the three televisions have the...

Excellent picture and response time ; Thin, attractive bezel ; Built-in Wi-Fi, Ethernet ; Full suite of Internet apps and widgets

Very poor sound quality ; Media player slow to load content ; Slow user interface ; No backlighting in remote

The Toshiba 42SL417U looks great on paper and presents a terrific image, but its drawbacks keep it from truly fulfilling its value proposition.

The Toshiba 42SL417U does not live up to its $1099 MSRP. While the black levels and contrast ratio are decent, the TV choked in our color performance tests. A viewing angle of 19 degrees is unacceptable in a time when engineers are finding news ways to...

Nice picture, needs sound

Really good picture, and refresh. Good price at the refurbished amount, plus a discount above that made it $514.00. The remote died within a couple of weeks, so i had to get a new one

dead remote ; Need a sound bar to get good sound
