Toshiba 50L5200U

A couple of months ago, I asked how much you would pay for a new television. Unsurprisingly, half of the respondents said under $1,500, and almost half again said under a grand. Well, if that's you, the Toshiba 5200 LED-based LCD series might be a TV...

The Toshiba 5200 series has good all-around performance for the price, with relatively good black levels and shadow detail and minimal uniformity issues.

Color accuracy is a problem, with occasional greenish midtones. The backlight can fluctuate slightly between light and dark material. Unlike some TVs at this price level, there's no 3D or Smart TV.

The bare-bones Toshiba L5200 series offers respectable value for the money with fine picture quality for an edge-lit LED TV.

Toshiba 50L5200U

Toshiba's L5200U HDTV line offers nice-looking LED-backlit screens that deliver solid color quality and a sharp HD picture, but come up short on contrast ratio and features.

Accurate colors. Good viewing angles. Robust audio output

No Internet connectivity. Only three HDMI ports. Mediocre contrast ratio

The Toshiba 50L5200U is an attractive 50-inch HDTV that delivers accurate colors and solid viewing angles, but it doesn’t offer much in the way of features compared with other similarly priced models. If you’re looking for an affordable, full-featured...

Toshiba 50L5200U Review

Models in Toshiba L5200U series

Outstanding contrast and brightness ; Very good color performance ; Little to no light bleed ; Thin profile ; Reasonable price

Cheap-feeling stand and bezel ; Dated-looking remote ; No Internet connectivity ; Terrible on-board control buttons

The Toshiba 50L5200U makes an excellent solution as a wall-mounted, everyday watching TV and the price ain’t too shabby, either.

This model just can't compare to Toshiba's L7200U flagship series.

Overall, the Toshiba 50L5200U is a mediocre television.

"Great Image, mainly used for Movies and Games, love it!"

When I first tried watching a live action movie I almost lost it and took the tv straight back! The soap opera effect is annoying, and it was causing pixilation whenever someone turned their head or moved there hands! However, I calmed down and did...

Great Value for Price! Image is great, low energy cost, decent sound for flat screen, 3 HDMI hook ups and one AV. Fiber Optic sound hookup. USB port. PC hook up. Love the image when watching HD movies, or playing HD games.

No WI-Fi and slow to power up. You have to turn clear rate off in order to get rid of soap opera effect and distortion when watching live action movies, but once off problem is solved.

Fantastic TV

Unbelievable clarity; picture seems to have depth even though this is not a 3D TV. Setup is a snap - this is the first TV I have owned that required zero adjustments (contrast, color, etc.) to obtain desired picture. Between the vivid and true colors,...

The only con related with this TV is it makes all of my other sets look really crummy. After watching programs on this Toshiba, even the picture on my 32" LCD, whose picture I thought was top notch, pales by comparison

Best TV Ever!

I love this TV! I never knew a picture could be this clear. The picture is so clear it almost appears as if you can touch the actors. I only wish I had purchased a larger screen. The sound is excellent even without any additional surround sound...
