Toshiba 42ZV555D review

Toshiba says its Resolution+ system brings HD quality to standard-def images

Excellent HD performance ; Resolution+ doesn't disappoint

Unexceptional sound, conventional design ; Res+ won't work over HDMI

Some clever tech and fantastic HD pictures makes this a TV well worth your consideration

Toshiba Regza 42ZV555D 42in LCD TV

Resolution+ makes another appearance on Toshiba's 42in 42ZV555D LCD TV. What does John make of it and the set?

Toshiba 42ZV555DB review

Toshiba's 42in screen lags behind the latest competition in flatscreens

Enjoyable black tones ; good with motion (eventually)

TV tuners don’t convince ; so-so 1080p pictures ; unpleasant sound

Toshiba seems to have been left behind somewhat by the latest crop of new flatscreens

Toshiba 46ZV555DB review

This Toshiba follows a well trod path of being solid, dependable and bang on the money

A very solid, natural and detailed picture for the money ; a not-unpleasant warmth to images

Resolution+ isn’t amazing ; contrast is a bit limited

The 46ZV555DB is a typical Toshiba – solid, likeable, and right on the money

Toshiba 46ZV555DB review

Tosh's new telly promises “near HD quality” images, no matter the source – but can it really deliver the pixel-perfect goods?

Its upscaling isn’t as revolutionary as it claims, but this is still a capable TV with fine image quality and a decent price

Toshiba Regza 46ZV555D 46in LCD TV

It may not have worked in a DVD player, but Resolution+'s upscaling prowess really shines in Toshiba's 46ZV555D LCD TV.

The 46ZV555D boasts terrific performance and a comprehensive feature list, which makes it feel like a real bargain - particularly when you consider that similarly-specified 46in sets from the likes of Sony and Pioneer cost a lot more. Resolution+ makes...

Toshiba Regza 46ZV555D LCD TV

HDTV may the buzz phrase of the moment, but there really isn't that much of it about. Yes, the number of Blu-ray films is steadily increasing, but on TV, the fact that it's corralled into separate channels suggests that it's still not quite a...

Resolution+ picture processing boosts quality of standard def pictures from TV or DVD sources, and Active Vision M100 HD delivers smooth 100Hz processing. There are plenty of connection options too

Standard def pictures aren't quite as close to HD as Toshiba suggests. The processor occasionally boosts onscreen noise as well as picture detail
