Relatively cheap; Excellent video-processing

If you're in the market for an affordable big TV, the Toshiba 52XV555DB is impossible to ignore.

If you're after a big-screen all-rounder at an aggressive price, it's impossible to ignore the fact that Panasonic's 50in TX-P50X10 plasma screen can now also be had for under £1,000. But if you're in the market for an affordable big TV to do duties...

The Toshiba is far from disgraceful, but neither is it up to the standard of rival sets in this class

Very pleasant and controlled HD images ; decent detail and colours all-round

Toshiba 42XV555D

A very competent all round performer just off the pace of the best LCD TV's ..

Toshiba's mid range offering is a significant improvement on previous efforts from the Japanese manufacturer. The problem is that the bar has been raised by a number of other manufacturers with the 42XV555D finding itself just off the pace.

Average product.

This product is good and the picture is good. The only problem I had was just over a year and the on / off button packed up so I have to leave the telly on stand by all the time. I did report this back to Amozon but was just told 'sorry it is over 12...

Power Button problem......some good news!!!

Having been happy with the product for the last two years, yesterday the power button gave up the ghost. Having come back to the site and read the reviews it's clear that this is a common fault. With that in mind I contacted Toshiba Customer support...

I love my tv

Very pleased with this tv, it works well with everything I have tried using with it (including a surround sound system). However, not long after the one year warranty ran out, the power button on the side of the tv broke and I had to pay to get it...

Dodgy ON-OFF switch

I was initially really impressed with the overall package. However, when watching a Sky box office movie the sound has to be turned up to 100% to get reasonable volume. (Is this a Sky issue?)
