Toshiba 55SL417U

The ability to stream Netflix and other Internet sources, as well as the thin profile imparted by its edge-lit LED backlight, mark the Toshiba SL417U as a midrange HDTV these days. In its favor this set demands relatively little cash for those extras,...

The Toshiba SL417U evinced relatively deep black levels in dark scenes and very good video processing. Its matte screen works well in bright rooms. Its Internet suite includes built-in Wi-Fi

The SL471U's backlight fluctuated more than usual, causing black levels to vary depending on scene content. Colors were less accurate and lacked saturation. Its screen is brighter on the edges and the picture loses fidelity from off-angle worse than...

Albeit one of the least expensive Internet-capable LED TVs available, the Toshiba SL417U lags behind most of its competitors in terms of performance.

Toshiba LED HDTV 55SL412U Review: Few Features, Great Price

At a time when most HDTVs are piling on features, the Toshiba 55SL412U takes a contrarian approach. This 55-inch, LED-backlit LCD TV doesn't support 3D, does not connect to the Internet, provides mediocre audio, and offers only a basic set of...

Big, ecofriendly LED TV at a good price ; Pretty good image quality ; Reasonably tweakable

Limited port selection ; Mediocre remote ; No Web or 3D support ; Poor audio and documentation

The Toshiba 55SL412U delivers decent image quality on a large, energy-efficient, LED-backlit LCD screen at a reasonable price. It's a good choice--if you can live without connected-TV features, 3D support, good audio, and other amenities.

Toshiba 55SL417U

Toshiba SL417U series information: Our review of the 55-inch 55SL417U from Toshiba is based on our hands-on experience with the 46-inch 46SL417U TV. The observations made do apply to other set in the SL417U series, the 42-inch 42SL417U. According to...

Excellent picture and response time ; Thin, attractive bezel ; Built-in Wi-Fi, Ethernet ; Full suite of Internet apps and widgets

Very poor sound quality ; Media player slow to load content ; Slow user interface ; No backlighting in remote

The Toshiba 55SL417U looks great on paper and presents a terrific image, but its drawbacks keep it from truly fulfilling its value proposition.

Toshiba 55ZV635D review

The big ZV series of LCD TVs offers alluring value and 'Deep Lagoon' styling

Great screen size for price ; Dolby Volume ; Useful USB and SD card slots

No Ethernet port ; Average contrast ratio ; Upscaled SD material looks poor at this size

Toshiba Regza 42ZV635DB 42in LCD TV

How does the 42in Toshiba Regza 42ZV635DB LCD TV fare against its rivals? John finds out.

The rest of the Active Vision processing system is one of those scattershot (not meant in derogatory way) systems now find on almost every TV around, which work on everything from colours to contrast, sharpness and, well, everything, like I said.

Toshiba Regza ZV (47ZV635DB) review

We think most people will be very happy with the Toshiba Regza 47ZV635DB. It's big but not too large to fit in a normal lounge. It's also got the features that most people want in a TV, and it does a superb job with high-definition images from Blu-ray...

Excellent high-definition pictures ; Dolby Volume prevents a surge in volume when adverts come on ; Plenty of connectivity

Styling won't suit everyone ; Fairly chunky by modern standards ; Larger plasma screens are cheaper

As an alternative, consider Samsung's bargain-basement, 40-inch, 1080p LE40B550 LCD TV, which offers many of the same features, albeit with a smaller screen, for around £540

Toshiba Regza ZV (42ZV635DB) review

The Toshiba Regza 42ZV635DB talks a mighty good talk, thanks to an impressive feature set for the price. Many of its features work very well, too, including the all-important 200Hz system. But, while it's quite cutting-edge on some levels,...

Attractive, opulent design ; Good connectivity ; Clear motion reproduction ; Plenty of picture flexibility ; Standard-definition pictures look quite sharp

Black levels aren't great ; The set's viewing angle is limited ; Slight flickering at times from the scanning backlight system ; Occasional stutter during camera pans

Conclusion Although Toshiba's debut 200Hz engine helps the Regza 42ZV635DB give a generally good account of itself so far as motion-handling is concerned, the set's susceptibility to other common LCD problems -- in particular, poor contrast and viewing...

Toshiba ZV635 / ZV650

Toshiba ZV635 was announced in late 2009 and became available in most countries in the beginning of 2010. ZV635 is a mid-range TV and features a Meta Brain picture circuit, 200/240 Hz (in USA) and a new design.

Response time; Frame interpolation Hz system

Black level; Clouding; Inaccurate colors and gamma; Viewing angles; Inputs facing backwards; No 1:1 pixel mapping

Toshiba ZV635 has no internet functionality or DLNA like most of the 2009/2010 models from the other large manufacturers but it features a USB input and SD card reader. The frame is very deep and most inputs are pointing backwards making wall mounting...
