Vizio M551D-A2R

The Vizio M551D-A2R is a surprisingly stylish, affordable LED-backlit HDTV that sports tons of features, good picture quality, and out-of-the-box 3D for eight people.

Good all-around performance. Solid 3D. Generous feature set

3D shows crosstalk when viewed too close or off-axis. Dark scenes can look slightly muddy

Vizio has once again produced a very good big-screen HDTV for a reasonable price. While the Vizio E601I-A3 proved that you can get a solid 60-inch screen for under a grand, the M551D-A2R proves that you can get a very good 55-inch, 3D-capable screen...

Vizio's M-Series TV is not just a pretty face

The Vizio M-Series offers a potent combination of excellent design, decent picture quality, and a pocket-friendly price.

The Vizio M-Series M1d-A2R is an excellent value with great design and a snappy picture; it has excellent shadow detail, fairly deep black levels, and excellent processing; and its Smart TV access has been improved

It doesn't have as deep a black level as a plasma; it suffers from a slight red push; it has a reflective screen; Yahoo apps aren't very slick; and the remote sensor isn't very responsive

The Vizio M551D-A2R is a surprisingly stylish, affordable LED-backlit HDTV that sports tons of features, good picture quality, and out-of-the-box 3D for eight people.

The M551D uses passive 3D and comes with a whopping eight pair of 3D glasses (with additional pairs available from Vizio starting at $17.99 for two), so you can have a 3D movie party out of the box if you have a 3D-capable Blu-ray player. I watched...

"Great picture but out of control "FLASHLIGHTING"!"

CNet NEEDS to start including "Blooming", "Clouding", "Flashlighting" and whatever else different people call it, into their reviews. These TV's are attempting to compete with plasmas on their playing field of home theater, dark room screening. I was...

"High End TV without the High End Price"

The M-Series is the flagship of the Vizio fleet of TVs. I spent a lot of time trying to decide between the M551d-A2R 55-Inch 1080p 240Hz 3D Smart LED HDTV and the "step down" model E500d-A0 50-Inch 1080p 120Hz 3D Smart LED HDTV. The E-Series TV is a...

"Knocked it out of the park!"

The TV supports multiple(i believe 4) 3D modes and comes with 8 sets of non-powered, light weight, 3D glasses. My wife and I watched Prometheus in 3D on our new TV. Though the movie, Prometheus, is ..., watching it upon our new Vizio, in 3D, was quite...

Edge to edge, crystal clear and an easy to adjust (to taste) picture. Best part, I only spent $1,050. Vizio has hit a home run.

- Sluggish television response to remote.
