Vizio SV472XVT

If you were one of the billions of people who watched the Super Bowl, you may have seen an ad for a certain TV company called Vizio, promoting a TV that connects to the Internet to offer Facebook, Rhapsody, Netflix and a host of other dot-com-style...

Less expensive than other local dimming LED-based LCDs; reproduces relatively deep black levels; excellent bright-room performance; controls blooming well; solid uniformity; black areas have neutral color; superb streaming and widget content via...

Uneven grayscale leads to less accurate color; backlight fluctuates with program content; couldn't handle 1080p/24 content properly; poor off-angle viewing; fewer picture controls than some high-end HDTVs; less impressive Wi-Fi performance; chunky...

The Vizio 2XVT series offers the best Internet experience we've tested and very good image quality, all for a price that makes other high-end HDTVs seem expensive.

Vizio SV422XVT LCD HDTV First Impressions Review - Intro

The Vizio SV422XVT is a 42-inch LCD HDTV in their premium XVT range of displays. It's also the first TV from Vizio to include support for Widgets, small programs that run on the display and grab information from the Internet, including Twitter posts,...

The Vizio SV422XVT looks to be a promising 42-inch LCD HDTV. Although we remain unconvinced about the usefulness of the widgets (or Vizio Internet Applications, as Vizio refers to them), they could be a useful feature for news or stock junkies. And the...

"My first and last Vizio purchase."

Bought this TV with high hopes. It's been a constant disappointment. Using the apps (Netflix, Hulu, etc.) is a nightmare. From turning on TV to getting a show playing often takes 10 minutes or more to load, and we have blazing fast internet. That, of...

Decent picture, Slim design

Internet cuts out, apps sometimes don't load, apps load at snail's pace, TV randomly shuts off during viewing (sometimes for up to 30 minutes), USB ports are unusable until an unspecified update, Vizio support ignores requests for help.

Consumer review by:

"TV only lasted 30 months before the main board died."

Stay away fro Vizio until their units prove to be reliable.

Decent price at Costco for the advertised features, July 2010.

Only 30 months of use for a $1300 unit. Vizio was not helpful.
