Vizio XVT3D554SV Review – 55-inch LED LCD HDTV

3D TV's are all the rage this year and many people have been waiting to see how the country's fastest up and coming manufacturers would compete. This model surely belongs with the high-end sets and gives you the pleasure of watching 3D technology on...

Vizio has made this set LED backlit with 120 zones of LED dimming. Although this will not give the TV a flattering depth, it will certainly give a better picture quality with the different zones being able to brighten up or dim down independently. This...

There is a reason that a VIZIO 3D TV is one of the most inexpensive options available – sometimes the technology is unreliable. The three-dimensional technology of the VIZIO XVT3D554SV is hit and miss, and even in 2D, the TV has some issues. However,...

The VIZIO XVT3D554SV offers a variety of VIZIO internet applications

It cannot convert 2D images to 3D images, and it suffers from some glitches

As a regular TV, the VIZIO XVT3D554SV is good, but as a 3D TV, it needs some improvements.

Great picture and trouble-free operation.

We've had our 554 for 6 months now, and it has operated perfectly without any problems at all. The color quality is excellent, as is the clarity of the picture. We haven't tried the 3D yet, but mostly I'm concerned with what is by far the thing of most...

The picture quality is great, with bright and accurate color and great clarity

TV sound sometimes modulates a bit, but we primarily use an audio-visual receiver so it hasn't been an issue

Buy at your own RISK!

It's a hit or miss issue here. I have read some great reviews and have seen and hear how nice this TV can be but unless Vizio steps up to the plate and fixes these issues it's no better then a paper weight. a $2000.00 paper weight. Good luck and I...

Great looking TV. Love the options, Bluetooth remote is cool, internet apps also very cool. 2D is awnsome and it has great SRS sound quality

The issue is the frame ware software (watch dog), I am told by Vizio. It causes the TV screen to freeze and then turns itself off. Most but not all of the time it will go into a diagnostic and then turn itself back on. The problem with this is that it

Vizio XVT3D554SV

Called Costco customer service they helped establish dialogue with VIZIO. Worked 2hrs 1st & 2nd level Vizio support, performing storage clear, resetting etc which didn't fix anything only made things worse. I was referred to 3rd level which stated they...

Nice picture 2D & HD did not try 3D had not purchased glasses at this time. Costco customer service is great for the basic troubleshooting and communication with VIZIO

DDAY +8hrs picture blinks on/off >10x a minute & dims intermittently. Vizio internet applications Widgets no longer work. Remote control is not robust, keys stick & very hard to use keyboard not grade AAA. TV audio only works if external audio

Best Buy for the Money

We were looking to replace a 60" Sony XBR and did an extensive comparison of the 55"+ 3D 240 Hz HDTV's on the market. Our decision came down to the Sony 55" Bravia NX810, the Samsung PNC7000 or PNC8000 and the Vizio. My primary concern was reliability...

Incredible picture quality from multiple viewing angles ; 3D capabilities were far better than anticipated ; 480 Hz refresh rate adds "depth" to 2D images ; Ambient light sensor does a great job of balancing brightness vs. room light

Sound is sometimes distorted (slightly muffled) ; The frame boarders are too "plasticy

(2) Units, both brand new, both died within 30 days

Vizio is an integrator, not an innovator. Product quality is poor. Good idea, lots of great state of the art features, best picture I ever saw on a LED LCD tv. Lifelike but reliability detracts from all that. If the unit will not work, high tech is of...

When it works, it has the clearest, brightest, most vibrant picture ever. Excellent 2D performance as well as 3D performance. Glasses while bulky are rechargeable, fit over prescription glasses and can charge via the TV itself with USB cord

First unit died after a couple of weeks. Unit turned itself off, not too hot, just turned off. Then later after running for more than an hour would have a red cast over the whole screen. Finally died. 2nd unit, input 1 didn't work, later died

Terrific 2D Image, Good in 3D!

The 2D image here is extremely sharp, almost shockingly so. Remember when you first moved from SD to HD and all the TV shows suddenly seemed kind of... shabby? As if the sets just weren't up to HD scrutiny? The image here is so clear, the colors so...

Internet Apps Work Great ; Screen is glossy ; Picture Crisp and clear ; Easy Set-Up ; Slide-out keyboard remote works fairly well ; 2D Image quality ; 3D Glasses are cheaper than any other brand ; Very wide viewing angle both in 2D and 3D

No easy way to get firmware updates ; The stand does't swivel ; VIA internet applications are limited ; Non included 3D glasses are heavy but work well

After months of looking at TVs, reading reviews and educting myself I couldn't decide. The technology changes so fast and the prices change almost weekly. My wife was telling everyone that I was visiting TVs and bringing them flowers and that I was...

OMG, I cannot believe's really a Vizio???

Just bought this TV over the weekend; my first words WOW I can't believe it!!! I have always been a Samsung fan, until just recently when my Samsung 52" started going out; "the ole red dots and power supply issues". Therefore, it's gone and replaced...

Picture quality, auto dimming, rich full color and black/back light, image stunning with no blurryness on sports; easy setup; looks clean on the wall and reasonable price

Remote a little clunky, but getting use to it; wish it had Pandora and maybe some other apps...blows my Samsung out of the water
