Zenith DTT900

The FCC has pushed back the DTV transition several times already, but it looks as if it will shut off over-the-air analog TV signals on February 17, 2009. That means owners of analog TV will need to pony up for a DTV converter box if they want to...

Solid video quality and reception; easy-to-use design, especially for digital TV amateurs; good aspect ratio controls for handling wide-screen programs on standard TVs; attractive design; remote can control the TV's power

Program guide is very basic; small remote control buttons aren't ideal for seniors; audio quality is subpar

The Zenith DTT900 DTV converter box has an easy-to-use design and solid video quality, but buyers should be aware of cheaper--and possibly better--alternatives coming in the future.

Zenith DTT900 Digital TV Tuner

The government is forcing broadcasters to shut off all analog television signals at midnight on February 17, 2009. Those who still have analog televisions will need to switch over to digital broadcasts, and the Zenith DTT900 Digital TV Tuner is a...

Easy to set up. Remote and menus are easy to navigate.

Limited connectivity. Guide shows only one program ahead of current show. More expensive than the competition.

There's nothing fancy about the DTT900. It allows your old TV to receive digital broadcasts, provided you also buy an inexpensive HDTV antenna.

Zenith DTT900 DTV Tuner

The demise of analog TV is nearly upon us. Less than one year from now, on February 17, 2009, as decreed by the federal government, broadcasters will cease transmitting analog wave TV signals from their towers. At that point, millions of Americans may...

A word of warning-if you think you need one of these boxes, apply for the coupon early because the government is only allocating a limited number and is handing them out on a first-come, first-served basis. If you don't need one, don't apply, because...

Does all it is supposed to do and then some.

Excellent reception. This unit picks up more channels than the Magnavox untis that both died after five months. The remote works with our televeision thus eliminating the need for two remotes

No analog pass through. Remote is small

Unit is losing channels after 8 months

After 8 months, some of the channels are losing strength on one of my two DTT900 units. I plugged both units into the exact same cables and checked signal strength. One has good strength on three of the channels while the other now has bad strength....

Was easy to install, setup and use

One of the units is losing signal strength to two of my local stations. Are parts deteriorating

general overview

Overall a very decent set for the average person. Has as good of a picture as one can expect from a composite video source. Even with audio issue, it is still reasonably clear, just not true high fidelity. Most may not even notice this. Other than...

All metal construction. Easy setup. Easy to use. Very good at handling multipath problems common in urban areas. Runs cool

No S-video output. Somewhat lower sensitivity to DX reception than my 3 year old HDTV tuner. On some channels, audio sounds akin to a rather highly compressed MP3 audio. On other channels, audio is fine

Poor audio performance; lousy program guide

I bought this about 6 months ago and there are definitely better models on the market since then. I haven't seen review about audio/video syncing, but it is really annoying to have it not right on.

Good quality reception, with almost no antenna attached on all stations in the region

Poor audio quality, with noise when you turn it up too far. Even worse, the audio is not quite in sync with the video. The program guide only shows 2 hours of programming and on only one channel at a time
